You're thinking of the RWD LR model. It shares its rear motor with the AWD variants. The front motor is unique... which it doesn't have since it's RWD.
Thanks for the correction. It sounds like Tesla still differentiates the hardware in the Performance models:

It's more like CPU pricing.. they're the same parts off the same assembly line, but only the ones that perform well enough during testing get turned into high end chips.
