Default Ft. Myers Tour

The Scoobie drivers in STS had a bit of an off event. Competition was tough as STS has been invaded by former national champions and other big names like the Kinser/Dana family and Elliot Harvey. Richard had some awesome runs but also had cone/DNF issues. He still managed to pull a 5th place trophy out of it, but it was clear he could have done better with just a couple clean runs.

The new STX class was OWNED by WRXen. Even the 2nd place driver was actually driving Kiko's WRX...and almost beat him! Good job Kiko!

The "new" D-Stock class also did great, taking 1st, 2nd, and 4th, with more WRXen peppered through the class. Tom Hoppe really put in some killer runs in the rain on Saturday, and then continued to kick butt on Sunday, winning the event by nearly 3 seconds. Way to go Tom!

In it's first real test for the 2.5RS in the new GS, Katie put in a strong 7th place that would have SMOKED GS-Ladies by 4 seconds had she chosen to run it instead of the open class! I managed to barely hang on to my trophy on Sunday, dropping to 4th by .032 seconds behind GH Sharp and two other nat'l champs. I'm very happy with that finish!

As an interesting side note, I was very happy to see the WRX, TypeR, Eclipse, etc. get moved out of GS this year so my 2.5RS could be more competitive, but I realized this morning I actually would have won DS this weekend! OMG! Of course, then I remembered that DS had lots of rain on Saturday while GS got some mostly-dry runs, so it probably wouldn't have acutally worked out that way had I run DS. Oh, well, it felt good for a minute or two!

Good job to all!
Neal
