Default Gauging interest Phatbotti tuning coming to Chicago

Trying to gauge interest for flying Sti Mikey from Phatbotti Tuning to Chicago for some road tuning in the month of March. Basically the way it works is that he needs at LEAST 5 cars @ $300/car for him to pay for the flight and hotel. He's looking to do a Sunday/Monday trip as long as there's enough interest. I can collect deposits from each car interested to hold your spot for tuning. He will tune either Cobb or Open-source for Subarus. Let me know if you're interested, so we can plan a tentative date.

I'd be more interested if a shop dyno could be rented. Not crazy about road tuning.

I don't see why not. But I assume it would cost more then.

We might be able to work something out using Benchmark's Mustang Dyno.

200 views but no interest so far? We only need 5 cars to put deposits down.

Yeah, I think that fell through. I'm trying to give people an alternative to a dyno tuning at a slightly cheaper rate than most shops with a dyno.

Did you change much since then to warrant a re-tune?

More than likely a road tune, not sure how much extra it would cost to rent a dyno for 5 people. Probably not cost effective...

Why the gripe against the road tuning....just a question, not a judgement looking to be justified haha.

There are a slew of AWD dyno's in the area that can be rented, our off site facility is a drive but it can also be done there. Wauconda! Middle of no where where Anti-lag hurts the ears of who stand near it...because there are no neighbors!

Well, let's just say the person driving my car hits someone and kills them. They're going to come after me and my insurance company. I'm old and my car has two car seats so I think about stuff like that.

I just imagine it takes more than a few pulls to get the tune right, and with 5 cars+ that may draw some attention. Just seems for a big gathering/group a dyno would be more ideal, but I'm no expert.

You're going to be the one driving while the tuner is in the passenger seat with the laptop. Pretty standard protocol when it comes to road tunes.

where would we be holding this tune session? I'm going to be in need of a tune soon. Although it doesn't seem like there are many interested.
Do the tuners send out a base map prior to the road tune so you can get your car there/drive it prior to the tune? do most guys install all of their parts the night before?

please enlighten me, I'm in the dark with the typical road tune scenario and protocol.

Typically deposits are made, you can send your mod list with the deposits and the tuner can send out a base/limp map before he arrives. If we get enough people i'll narrow down an area where we can meet. Six Star has a road by them that they normally use for road tunes where there isn't much issue.

Just saw the thread and wanted to let you guys know if you get STI Mikey he is a beast at tuning. We just had him this weekend down here in north Florida and he comes frequently to see us. Our group has not been let down.

Can you let these people know about the "system" which takes place? People will hang out for most of the day while he tunes the cars. I know he spends a lot of time on each car.

We do road tuning. We have a destinated spot that we go to and depending on the weather we bring out chairs and food and drinks and bs while each car gets done. Plus news cars that roll in we get to see what their setups are like. Their horsepower after the tune. Its like some of the best weekends for us when he comes down. He's legit. And he can do dyno but like you said charges a little more cuz you'll have to rent out a place with a dyno he can do his magic at. I couldn't ask for a better tuner. He is well known and by far a great friend of ours. Like you have told him the person drives their car and he sits in the passenger side with the computer and he tells you what to do to get the right readings, he can even diagnose problems if there is any. I hope you do get enough people to actually come out so he can come up they won't be disappointed.
