Thumbs up A cheap and effective mod for your 5MT!

Mobil 1 gear oil! Do it, you won't regret it.

I bought it at Tito's recomendation. I do not know why I ever used anything else.

This thing shifts just like butter. I just can't believe the difference that it makes. You must try it at least. For $30, you are only hurting yourself not to try!

Andy

As an alternative,
Redline MT-90 (GL-4 rating) is equally good.

Andy, I run Mobil 1...

and my synchros are going... but maybe it's cause it's just that i got like 80k of hard driving on it...

Actually, my shifting got notchier when i went Mobil 1. Maybe i'm low?

i'll check it out

He broke his too. But yeah, RiftsWRX broke his 4EAT. Well, not the tranny exactly, but his center diff.

BADWRX has a 5MT (as quoted from his topic) I think you might be thinking of me that broke the 4EAT.. well I'm not sure if it is really broken... but does not feel right when shifting. maybe it is my center diff and/or my torque converter... still have to bring it in to find out.

Hey Andy... don't you have a new tranny now? so wouldn't it shift nice now anyways?

I think its 15k or 30k... or you can do both which will give you peace of mind.. you might as well change the diff fluid while you are at it

I have mobil 1 synthetic in my Subaru and it has performed decently though I'm tempted to change it now that it's closing in on 15kmi. It's seems to be alittle to slick on some instances till it gets warm enough causing some problems getting into gear.
