Default Fordís SVT Boss Will Run Brazil Operations

Fordís SVT Boss Will Run Brazil Operations

Ford Motor Company is expected to announce tomorrow that Hau Thai-Tang, Director, Advanced Product Creation and Special Vehicle Team, will leave the companyís North American operations to run Ford of Brazil (Ford do Brazil), according to WINDING ROADís sources within the company. While this is undoubtedly a promotion for the Vietnamese executive, one canít help but wonder how Fordís Mustang and SVT products will be developed in the future without his stewardship. Our feature story on the SVT boss, which was published in this monthís issue of WINDING ROAD, gave Thai-Tang the lionís share of the credit for the success of Fordís go-fast products. Carroll Shelby tends to agree with us, too.

ďThere have been some ****ty Mustangs,Ē said Shelby. ďBut someone always comes back with a vision of how the Mustang should beĖand thatís Hau Thai-Tang. Hau brought the Mustang back.Ē

Who will look after the Mustang / SVT now? One hopes that Ford gives Thai-Tang the opportunity to pick his successor. Or, at the very least, has a plan for him to return to North America within a short time frame. Itís no secret that Thai-Tang is one of the companyís best leaders.

Fordís Brazilian operations represent a significant piece of the companyís finances. Ford do Brazil has been the most profitable unit of the companyís global operations for some time.

Some people get kicked upstairs where they can't be heard or have an impact. This guy got kicked to Brazil.

Good for him and 'Ford do Brazil', but horrible for the US.
