Link?

If it's any states I'll bet it's only NE states, you people have the most retarded traffic laws on the planet. I learned from someone that in certain places around NY that it's pretty standard for people to pretend the shoulder is another lane and no one gets pissed off when cars start passing them on the shoulder because apparently it's accepted and OK there (maybe not from the cops though).

I thought of all the possible reasons and none of them made sense

My lights were on
There were no deer by the sides of the road
I used my turn signals
I have ample room before merging

What other reason would there be than they were mad at me for passing?

And one even put his left turn signal on (maybe to scare me like he was going to turn in front of me?)
2 lane road btw
First truck you passed probably honked to let the truck in front that you are passing. The front truck prob just honked for fun or thought you were a girl and wanted to check you out. That's all I got.

I swear something is seriously wrong with 76 gas in this area. Can't break 25mpg on it but others I have to really go insane to get below 28. Unfortunately they were my only option the last time I filled up, unless I wanted to waste another gallon and a half driving around town.

Something I really like about the CVT.

Cruise control works very smoothly with it in my experience especially on hills.

In my wife's grand Cherokee with an 8 speed it always seems to be pretty clunky when shifting in cruise on hills.

Our CVT is very good about slowly ramping up so it doesn't get that 5mph below your set speed then drops the hammer to catch up feel.

That's one thing I did appreciate on my regular road trip from Maryland up through the central Pennsylvania mountains into New York. Set the cruise and let the engine smoothly ramp up to 3500 to climb up the range.

I actually don't mind the automatic engine braking either. In fact it wasn't enough at times on that trip, but a flick or two of the left paddle took care of that.

Yea the engine braking for mountains is nice so you don't burn up your brakes.

On hills I don't want it to slow me down at all though and I'm sure it isn't that bad for the engine or trans but I know I would much rather do work on the brakes than the trans or engine.

Wow I could not disagree more. In cruise with the CVT, any time there's a semi-steep hill, the ECU/TCU love to go wide open wayyyyyyyy more often than necessary. I'd say the only time full throttle was *needed* ever while I was driving around here was going up the cascades, some steeper parts needed full throttle to not be dangerously slow. I can get up hills just fine without cruise at usually max 3000RPM steady, but with cruise if I even lightly touch the throttle to help it along (since it reacts way too slowly to incline changes) it just shoots right up to redline.

If you've got the CVT, the only pedals I've been aware of are the STI ones available. The set doesn't include the dead pedal, but I think it adds a nice touch.

These are what I have, bought them 3 years ago on eBay for ~$30 and are still holding up to daily use. I wasn't too crazy about the red STI logo, and figured they were way overpriced anyway.

I recall the seller had 5mt versions at the time as well, but no dead pedal included with either. Doesn't bother me since I use a husky liner anyway.

On the one hand, I wish I could scare idiot drivers enough into crashing into the center median on highways with a train horn

on the other hand it's $500+ for a toy that is completely for fun, no necessary function.

That's a hell of a steal, damn! And they aren't half bad, I like them. The STI ones are pretty overpriced for sure. Then again, I just dropped $400 for the spoiler..

Yeah I that's why I asked here since I feel the STI pedals are overpriced and I just need a good grip since it already started snowing here

You could always drill holes into the pedal and put some set screws in. There would be a lot of grip. Enough to rear the bottom of your shoe.

Taking another road trip starting next week. This time without my wife.

Anyone try sleeping in the back of their 5 door yet?

I tried laying down and the best sprawl I could get was my shoulders bridging the seat gap with my head on the center arm rest. Otherwise there isnt much room. Thats for when Im feeling extra cheap or cant make it to the campground on my route.

I've thought about it but never had to. I find sleeping in either front seat is pretty comfortable, at least short term for naps.
