Moore Performance quickest/fastest forester - time slips, pics and dyno sheet
What to do with a built motor, 3,431 lb (w/o driver) shoe box........take it to the drag strip! This car was not built to be a drag car or any sort of race car, but we were curious to see what it would run in the 1/4 after we installed our new EL TS header and custom uppipe/downpipe combo, so owner Dale and I took it on two occassions to Pittsburgh Raceway Park and Quaker City in Salem, Oh.
We gave the car a few runs even though the 2 step launch control was not working and the car was breaking up bad in 2nd gear after the 1-2 no-lift shift. We couldnt' get it sorted out that night but the car was able to make an 11.4111 pass with only a 1.6334 60'. At Quaker City the Mitsu guru Curt Brown of Curt Brown Racing jumped behind the wheel for only two passes before they called the night due to high winds. With traction issues due to the cold temps and track prep, the car breaking up in 2nd and a 1.767 60' the shoe box was able to run the faster current mph to date of 121.96. The car was able to pick up 31+ mph on the back half of the track on this particular run....too bad we could get the car to leave the line and run smooth in 2nd on front half! I believe the old ET/MPH record was 11.896 @ 121.28. With a few more lbs of boost than shown on the dyno graph (26 psi compared to 23 psi) we were able to run a best of 11.4111 and a 121.96 trap speed even with track or car issues on every single pass. Oh well. It was fun to take the car to the track to see what it would do.... Now on to a new motor and bigger and better things for the Foz! Thanks guys! Dale took a lot of time to work out many custom details on this car from the under hood goodies to the suspension, exterior, etc. and I'm very happy to have him as part of my team designing and working on new an exciting components for the Subaru community! We designed and tested a few prototype items on this car, and we hope to offer Subaru owners more unique components as we continue on, but I just wanted to show you what we've done so far and what we're capable of. If all goes well and we have enough time this winter, this forester will be an entirely new animal next year!

Thanks!! Ya, it's a blast to drive and you can really haul a lot of stuff in the back of that thing! The liquid/air IC allows for a very short trip from the turbo compressor outlet to the throttle body while being very efficient. This makes the car more streetable than most fmic setups which are more associated with drag cars than a liquid/air unit. Essentially, that was the purpose of this forester......to build a fast, fun to drive street car with unique components. These intercoolers can also be 100%+ efficient when water and ice are added to the tank and the pump is run to circulate the ice cold water through the systems. The cold water can actually cool the intercooler to a temperature of less than the ambient air temp making this setup a great choice for autox cars, street cars, etc, but the additional weight and more complex plumbing make it less than ideal for most drag only applications Beyond that, it's different than the traditional tmic or fmic setups were all used to seeing! I guess I know it has a heat exchanger but is this a new type of unit that is capable?

I'm not going to say anything about how it looks other than to each his own.
BUT that Foz delivers! Holy hell. Very nice. Glad to hear people using Bell; when I was considering a custom IC I went straight to them. |

I was over at the Moore Performance shop again over the weekend. They had one of their twin scroll header/up-pipe combos in the shop for me to take pictures of. Check it out:
I think this is almost identical to what Dale has in the Forester. |

yeah I know it is flanged for the evo turbo but I want to know if they can make it for a t3 flange or maybe even t4.I like the way it is shaped like a gtspec single scroll uel header but is twin scroll and it will fit around my cosworth oil pan.

Maybe Ryan from Moore Performance can give a better update, but I will go from what I have heard.
They are finishing my header up-pipe combo right now, mine will be the first production setup for a stock location/flange turbo. Then they are going to look into starting to mock up more flange configurations but it will all take time. Since mine will be a single scroll setup it may not be that hard to do a t3 or t4 adaptation, not sure though. Oh, and for the record this one is Equal Length! A lot of work put into it to make it a top performer. Also the gold coating in that photo is a ceramic coating that will be optional but will make it so you dont have to use header wrap! |
