Default Speed Sensor, Mystery sensor.

I need a speed sensor for my tranny (6SPEED) AND i also need the sensor that goes on the tail shaft that is white. When pulled i noticed it had a seal around it and it was on the right side ( facing the tail shaft). Should i get these from the dealer or wah?

you talking about back-up light switch, or neutral position switch, either way your best bet is to go to the dealer.

The reverse and neutral switch are on the top/left rear half of the transmission, not the right side of the tail section.

On the right side, in the tail section, is where the transmission harness enters the transmission to connect to the center differential. The harness clips in, and seals with an o-ring. The tail section of the transmission will need to be removed to replace/reseal the harness.

i just need to replace the damn sensor on the outside do i really have to take the tail section off? ill be pretty pissed if i do. Ive already taken it out and it looks like it just pops out of the tranny and you can pop it back in with the o ring as the sealer. How hard is it to take off the tail section. How much is that sensor, ds1 do you sell them?

My bad, Dan is right.

Put the tranny vertically, remove the tail and unplug harness from the diff.

replace the harness. done deal. This is not that hard, but you need to remove the tail

When I unplugged the sensor I can see it clipped and I can get it halfway into the hole, is it possible for me to get it unclipped and reclip the new sensor with some tweezers to stabilize the harness and unclip and reclip. And to remove the rear section its only a few bolts, but when I take the tail section off do I have to remove anything or just take the rear tail casing off?? I don't wanna have to remove anything out of the tranny. This would be the first time I opened a tranny . The advice is appreciated.

As Dan said, that is not a sensor...it is the electrical connector to your DCCD center diff. The center diff is the cylindrical part that the wires and connector are coming out of in Arty's picture with the finger in it. If you are missing the outer connector and can get another one just use some small medical foreceps or tweezers to hold the inner part while you connect a new one then snap the new one into place to seal the hole.

Lol, not a problem. Good luck finding that external connector though, maybe your local dealer can pour over some schematics and dig a part number up for you.
