Default Almost got stabbed today!! >:o

Well I guess I'll start off by saying this had nothing to do w/my car...no car jacking or anything of the sort...

Anyways...Here it goes, Most people that know me on here know I'm a manager at a local Best Buy...one of the things I run is the LP department...Over the last couple of days we've been missing particular computer software pieces that are trapped up in those stupid plastic casings that beep when you leave the store...So I start reviewing the tape and realize who's doing it and whats going on...While you review the tape in the store, it doesn't record...nor do you get a live feed as you're using the monitor to check out the camera's from whatever previous recording you're looking at...So one of my LPs keeps looking at the tape, I go to walk the floor and someone mentions to me in passing "hey that guy at the register is buying the one of the same products that was used to steal that software"...I look and the cart is full of product, but no one around it...I go upto the shopping cart pull out a set of computer speakers, open up the box while the guy that was ready to buy it starts walking away FAST...I open it up and there's about 30 copies of Microsoft Office stuffed in this box!!! I look at the dude who's 1/2 way out the door and start chasing after him...I'm a pretty big guy (6'0 250 lbs) but a little out of shape, but man this was like running a sprint for Montclair State Football team all over again!! he drops 2 cell phones as he's running from me he gets to his Ford Explorer and pulls a freakin Rambo knife off his waist and says take another step and i'll stab the **** outta you!!! Then proceeds to 'poke' the knife in my direction multiple times I take a few steps back, get right in front of his car memorize his plates (which i'm amazed i was able to do) he then revvs up, peels out, nearly hits me, all while his crackhead biiotch is with him in the car screaming obscenities outta her crusty ass tooth missing mouth...Went 2 the police station, they got an address and up'd the charges from burgulary to armed robbery...wow what a night, was kind of fun though...Guy was really screwed after he dropped those phones that i'm pretty sure he stole from my store ...

anyways just figured I'd share my night experience with you guys and entertain ya for a few minutes...I'm definitly pressing charges and my store is upping the 'burglary' charge to grand larceny because after doing our counts we're missing 40 additional copies of the software he tried to steal tonight...grand total was like 12,xxx

I hope they pay you a lot of cash for your position, cause I know I wouldn't be running after armed robbers if they weren't.

Yeah when I was in retail they told us never to chase after them. Just remember as many details as possible. Good he didn't actually cut you.

Actually man i'm not supposed to...but I've been in loss prevention for over 6 years now and was accepted to the state police program a couple of years back, just never took the offer...idk something just kicked into gear inside of me...I know my life definitly isn't worth what a company who has insurance for this type of stuff equals out to...

Be careful in the future man, NO job is worth it, and these are the pieces of sheet that will kill you. We don't need to read about you in the paper.

yea man, thank God things worked out otherwise some of you guys would've been reading about it in the newspaper for sure...this one hit last night would've been worth about $5500 in MS Office software and looking back at my inventory integrity counts, it looks like he's been hitting software and video games for awhile now...i've been looking to get outta retail for awhile now...hours suck, bonuses all depend on the economy really, the only thing i really have goin for me is the awesome discount and when we win national contests....last october i stayed at the royal pacific resort in universal studios for 5 days on them...along with 500 in spending cash, and over $6000 in 'gifts' from our vendors (ie laptop, 30"lcd, psp, digi cam, etc etc)...ehhh this is probably edging me to get my foot out that door though

sorry man wouldn't want to get even more into detail on it...not because of you in particular, but there are alot of trolls that just wander the board and come across schemes to put into action...lets just say that unless there's inside help, the guy has to have balls the size of watermellons to pull this off

I think the idea is the guy had balls like grapefruits and was outright blatantly stealing from the store.

Best buy's security isn't on par with that of Walmart - I'm not an expert with Best Buy's security but I'm going to assume that since Walmart is probably the most sophisticated security setup in the nation with the exception of casinos and banks, that this little gig would have been up far sooner at Walmart.

Its like when you go into a store with a huge pair of paints and then you try on three more pants and put them all on ontop of each other, or a shirt under your shirt. This is why they make you declare how many items you're taking into a dressing room, because there's no cameras in there - for obvious privacy purposes. Same is to be said with the bathroom.

Now if you're a young guy or suspicious looking guy and walk into Walmart they're going to track your throughout the entire store on the surveliance system. My buddy got nabbed trying to take a DVD on a dare by Walmart and it was a huge shocker - the kid is very religious and its not his nature, meanwhile I know of other kids stealing $1000's of dollars worth of clothing from Ambercrombie, Gap, and other stores since it was the cool thing to do my junior year in high school - even girls were getting into the act and stealing stuff. We couldn't believe it, it was like all our childhood friends had turned into boneheads, but they all learned soon enough and have stopped.

Pro's take aluminum lined bags and jackets into stores that will deflect the alarm devices from triggering the alarm when they walk out of the store. You get caught with that sort of thing and you're probably doing time. They have TV specials about this sort of thing.

Stealing stuff is simple, not getting caught over an extended period of time is not - so don't be stupid.

Its like those people who switch price stickers for a lower priced sticker - its illegal and although you might get the item for a discounted price the first few times, eventually you're going to get caught and wind up in trouble.

Don't be dicks and don't take that which does not belong to you.

***Your public service announcement.

Original poster;
Good man catching the guy. I personally would have went after him as well and would have let up when he tried to shank me. If you don't put your foot down and stop them, no one will. People may say its not worth it, but living in a just world is worth it to me.
