Decided to grind down my Kartboy shifter from my WRX and give it a try. Turned out great, over two inches shorter + 35% shift reduction!

The CEL has to work for an emissions test...if the light doesn't come on when you turn the key on its an instant fail...

That depends on where you are and your local laws. There are plenty of people here that run a standalone setup but still pass the sniffer test.

The red steel spt bar fits too. Basically any gc8 strut bar should fit. The red spt one is a super tight fit against the firewall and is the most rigid bar I have found for the baja.

Bc racing made me a custom set of coilovers per my specs: 14k swift springs and 50mm longer struts on all 4 corners. Best set of coilovers I have ever owned. I am so impressed with the swift springs that I am ordering a set for my STI bc racing coilovers.

For everyone that has contributed to this. Thank you.

I am signing papers on a baja tomorrow and this helps me tremendously.

Very impressive modding you've done on your Baja!
Can you provide more info on your coilovers? I run a set, but ones from Megan designed for the Outback.
If others wanted to order a set like yours what specs/dimensions/model no. are these parts? Thanks for any info you can share.

Sure thing. They are bc racing coilovers designed specifically for the baja. I requested 50mm longer strut cartridges on all 4 corners and upgraded all of the springs to 14k swift springs. I was only able to do this because Josh (the owner of import image racing) is great friends with the owner of bc racing. Order them through import image racing and tell Josh you want the same baja setup Sean Fillner has. It was 1206 shipped for the custom setup.

^ Great info. Thanks!
I've dealt with Josh but not for custom stuff. I run the ER series on my Forester & also got a carbon driveshaft from him.

What kind of hp figures warrant a carbon driveshaft?

Did we ever get conformation of 2009 STi struts being a direct fit?

Also, the TMIC. Is that Baja specific? Will an FXT one fit?

The TMIC has been covered numerous times in this thread. Check it out. :-)

Man I thought I was blazing trails with mine, then I found this thread. . .lol! This is mine (work in progress):

Here's what I can add:

-Invidia downpipe for LGT/WRX/STi will not fit without modification to either the pipe or the frame gusset. I just removed the gusset, I'll notch and box it when I get time.

-I took a different approach to the STi TMIC ducting issue. I got a stock STi splitter with the IC and turbo I bought, so I opted to try and use it. After much studying I wound up using a regular flat Legacy/Outback NA hood and added a STi scoop to it. Wasn't too bad to do. Bonus is I have a functional IC water spray system. . . used a washer fluid tank from a Saab 9-2x which mounts inside the fender under the battery. Build thread over on subaruoutback.org. . .although it's a mess. Hood scoopyness starts around here:

http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/...rbo-5mt-4.html

-Picked up an Agency Power short throw shifter on CL from an unknown year WRX. It worked after I milled it down to fit. . . it was about 1/4" too wide (as has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread:

and installed:

-I'm running 08 LGT brakes. Direct bolt on, but they do require 17" wheels. Not as pretty as Brembos but you can pick up a set for 1/4 the cost, and they're a big improvement over stock. Rotors are over 1" larger diameter and waaay thicker too.

-I swapped crossmembers while I had the engine out and am using essentially an 05 STi crossmember and steering rack. Steering rack requires a u-joint from something like a 4th gen Legacy as the spline pattern is different than that of the Baja. I used an 08 LGT one. STi crossmember has tabs for a subframe brace which helps support the lower control arm and strut mounting points. Haven't bolted on the subframe brace yet as I don't have a straight one but i'll make that happen eventually. I'll attach it to the body with J-nuts. Crossmember is a bolt-up piece, but the attachment points for the LCA's are wider. I'm using stainless washers to take up the slack (about 6mm) but eventually I'll switch to aluminum STi LCA's which won't need 'em.

Crossmember madness here:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea....html?t=221606

-05-09 Legacy/Outback seats fit if you cut the rear brackets off and reuse the Baja/2nd gen Outback ones. If you score some GT Limited seats, you also get heat and power on both sides. These are from an 08 LGT Limited. The seat heater switch does not fit, I had to make a bezel and use copious amounts of hot glue to put it in the place where the coin holder lived in the Baja.

-02-07 Impreza gauge pillar pod works if you take a heat gun to it and reshape the ends. This is a GlowShift one, they're vacuum molded ABS so they use heat to form them initially anyway. Gauges are Prosport electronics with opening ceremony. Thought I'd like them but they're kinda noisy (stepper motors) and the backlighting only changes color, it does not dim, and they're kinda buggy on the whole 'color change' bit if you turn the car on with the headlights already on. One works consistently, the other 2 do what they wanna do. I guess you get what you pay for for $50 each, senders included.

I stripped the wiper de-icer electronics off an LL Bean Outback. I'll swap the windshield for an Outback one with heat pretty soon. Put the switch where the "sport light" switch would go. Snaps right in. Eventually I want to swap over the auto HVAC as my other Outbacks have it and it's ruined me.

WOW! Nice work. Ooh. I am very interested in this use of the Legacy GT seats. I already have the 05 Turbo Auto leather seats in my Baja. Do you think I can make these work with that switch set up?
