Not sure what the guy with sixstar motorsports or Dewey is trying to say about rob tuning whatever he's trying to insinuate.

I was just asking if a stock tune was aggressive or not. I've heard people say it adjusts till it knocks then backs off.... Dunno

Anyways back on topic of road America.

Andy I'd love to go to the vintage races. I love old race cars.

Neil I think it's awesome you liked doing that track day. It really is awesome. I've been to gingeman a few times but don't have the money for it anymore.

Sorry I guess I am being a bit vauge. I didn't mean Rob rather than people in general. When these cars came out there were more than a lot of DSMers making the jump from their older cars to WRXs back in 02. Even to this day people still try to tune.overly agressive with these cars, get bit, then blame the car and that's not fair.

As far as the 16bit ecus, they tend to be more...forgiving than the 32bit ecus. Early WRXs could get away with stupid **** longer than the newer cars but that mean there wasn't damage done. Plus people failed to follow proper break in, use good fuel, or good oil.

The tunes weren't really overly aggresive, the owners were

The tunes are pretty aggressive in areas that they don't need to be, i.e. cruising, and pig rich with way too much timing(putting a ton of stress on bearings) WOT.

You don't have to use grease on the back of the pads, the only advantage is it eliminates any noise or squealing you "might" have.

Have you even ran a Hawk pad? They ALWAYS make noise. You need grease.

Neal, just use stuff that is black already I use generic disc brake quiet but I doubt it's designed for what you're doing.

I have squealing now after a few days of it being burnt off.

Worth a tune on a stock car? Not looking for power but better drivability ie better mpg's and reliability would be nice.

Reliability will definitely go up if done right. Drivability and MPG should get a bit better, but in those regards, the stock tune isn't bad.

Nope, I've always used Wearever silver or gold or thermoquiets (God I love free brake pads for the life of the car) and have never used grease and have yet to have any squealing.

Anything grabbier then hawk hps pads seem to squeal. They also dust like crazy.

Reminds me that I could use a brake upgrade on this thing.

Did this on my 08. She was smoother, got better MPG, and gained some nice power. Subaru loves to run lean before boost and run stupid rich when in boost.

This is the event I am going to try and see if I can do next for some road racing.

http://www.marchofdimes.com/wisconsin/1800_26908.asp

I still have to see if I can get off work or not and see if I can do the funding for it.
