Awesome write up overland04! You almost have me sold on Stance but it seems like the stance products are high maintenance for daily driving. Besides the little problems, hows the ride quality? I'm thinking about getting the gr+ or the kw v1's. I'm looking for a coilover that will give me a drop like yours and give great performance. Also I live in an area where they salt the roads in the winter so any input on how yours are holding up would be great.
If you can swing me into the right direction, I'd appreciate it

The biggest issue with an honest recommendation is that I really have nothing current to compare it to. It rides tight and stiff but it is tolerable for being over an inch and a half drop. I think they are great coilovers and besides the minor problems I've had, I would buy another set if I had to. I paid $1100 to my door step and or that price range I can't complain for what I got. The camber plates are beautiful and even though they were trashed with road salt, they came apart with ease for cleaning. The dampening is spot on and every click out of the 15 makes a noticeable difference. I'm running mine all the way open (or 1st click) on the street and its a little bouncy but it's a tight, controlled bouncy. Hands down the biggest reason to get these over the KW is that fact that you adjust height by moving the bottom bracket NOT by putting more or less tension on the springs. This way the springs always have the same tension whither you are above stock height or 2" below, the travel will stay the exact same. Hope that helps a bit! - Jason |

You can compare it to your stock suspension to give us an idea.
Lets say you are making an 6 hour road trip on mostly highway with about 3 hours of rough roads and 3 hours of average roads roads. Is this suspension so firm that this would drive you crazy? Just curious cause I'll be making long road trips this summer and I don't wanna shoot myself for buying crazy stiff suspension. Thanks for your input, I'm starting to lean towards the Stance coils now! |

Agreed, totally! Out of the box where do the KW's sit height wise with having the proper tension on the springs?

Wow great review! I did not know they made these for the 2011 WRX. Will these also work for the 09's? I might have to change my set up!!

I'm taking delivery of my 2012 SWP WRX today, and I'd like to spend my tax money on lowering the car. Overland, which specific model coilovers (link?) are you using? Thanks for the great thread! |

Dual height adjustability is one of many possible features, but it is not the ultimate one like it is often advertised as being. IMO it is most often used as a cost saving manufacturing design feature rather than a performance feature. That's not always the case, but it is a lot of the time. No idea on Stance. Most high end motorsports coilovers are not dual height adjustable. Like KW's, they just have shorter shock bodies so you have more travel at lowered ride heights. Coupled with a helper spring you end up with plenty of bump and droop travel (which dual height adjustables lack) and you do not preload the main spring. - drew |

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. I was driving back from New York...
The coilovers that I have in my car are the Stance GR+ Speaking with them last week they have re-designed the coilovers with a new top-hat bearing. They are now called Super Sport and they still don't list them on their site but I promise they are for the 2011+ also. TRMotorsport is a great place to get them but you have to call them up to order them. I think I see that they are having a sale or taking pre-orders for the new design. Give them a shot. |

2008-2010 coilovers fit a 2011, they just end up with a bit more camber, which you can dial out with the plates.

Iv been searching for stance coils for the 08+ WRX but cant find any for the life of me. I found the STI coils...are they the same? Rumor has it that the STI coils dont fit on WRX models. Are these by chance the ones you bought in the link?

They have re-designed the GR+coilovers though. The new models are the Super Sport. If you call stance directly (they are really helpful) they can let you know who is selling the newer style for the 2011 WRX. A lot of companies are still trying to sell the back stock of their GR+. The new style has a bearing in the top spring perch. Good Luck! - Jason |

What torque did you use for the 2 bolts on the top in the rear and the 3 bolts on the top in the front?

Thanks. You said that you set the camber to +2? I thought stock was around -1.3.

Today I took off the Stance suspension on my WRX. I'm going back to a regular Spring/Strut combo from Race Comp Engineering.
The stiff ride from the coilovers lasted a year and a half but I think it's time to look for a better ride for a Daily Driver. Overall they have been a good suspension and the handling has been top notch. I'll miss them on smooth roads but definitely not on rough ones. Day of install and today: |

Oh man, I just received these coilovers today in the mail from THmotorsports. I bought them specifically due to this thread. It's a shame to hear that you are taking them off after a year and a half. I suppose I'll just have to save the stock set-up in case it becomes too much for me.
Great write-up, everything you've done to your ride seems to be in good taste. Hope I can stand the set-up after a year has gone by. |

I have a question.. when you received your stance coilovers did you adjust any of the settings? or did you just unpack them and install them? did they come with the adjust settings of the springs already set?
