Default Do Sti/stock rubber mounts fit JIC suspension?

I'm thinking of swapping my JIC pillowball mount plates with Sti hard rubber mounts to help improve ride compliance and reduce interior cabin noise. Right now the pillowball mounts are transmitting horrible amounts of road noise into my car, almost to the point of being deafening. Also are there GDA Sti top hat mounts yet?

Ed,

I am really confused as to why you are having an almost "deafening" issue with noise. I installed my JIC's right at the same time you did and our units came from the same shipment container. I do not have any noise at all in the cabin, with the exception of a "thump" when I hit a larger sized hole in the road. If I were you I would recheck all possible installation issues. I cannot comprehend how such a difference could be happening.

Tire vibrations from my Pole Position S-03s are transmitting into my cabin, its clearly tire noise that i could hear with my old Sti suspension, but much louder. I cannot hear this noise when i'm riding on my softer 16" Dunlop SP5000 tires and stock rims.

I run 18inch Parada Spec-2 which are some of the loudest tires on the road. Even at highway speeds I barely hear them and I have a wagon which means the rear top mounts are located inside the passenger compartment. I can understand your concern, but my buddy runs 18 inch S-03's in his wagon with coilver set-up and cusco plates front and back without issue. I just think that before you go changing everything, which arguably won't do anything if you say it is a tire issue and changing spring rates really won't do anything, I would recheck the work. If it is the tires there is nothing you can change to make a difference.

You recheck the work, but i don't know what there is to recheck in a situation like this. You have to be a little more clear on what influencing factors one is supposed the isolation in this kind of problem. As i've said, i've already eliminated the road noise problem by changing the tires alone but those are low grip all season tires and i'd like to change to another set of high performance tires and see if this is just isolated to my S03s

I am not quite sure how or why I would recheck your work, but the laundry list of things to examine is pretty simpl: retorque all of the bolts, check all preload, and check to make sure all cuffs are tight.
If you have taken the S-03's off and found that to be the issue I would consider having the balance examined on them. S-03's are louder than the average tire, but are far from the unbearable level that tires like RE730's put out.

Ed,

You'll have to take a ride in my car sometime. I'm running Falken Azenis Tires now and they are known to be very loud tires, but they are not horrible. I do notice that I have the radio up a little louder on the highway. So far, I've run on 5 different tires. RE92s, S0-3s, Yoko AVSis, Nokian WRs, and Falken Azenis. The S0-3s fall right in the middle of the pack for noise. They are not a quiet as the RE92 or WRs, but far more quiet than the AVSis and the Azenis. Do you have flat spots on your tires? Any unusual wear? I'd definitely recommend a balance of the wheel and tire assembly. I'll be in your neck of the woods on Thursday for your going away party. We can talk more then.
