Default The Big Unit is a BIG DEADBEAT...

Big Deadbeat Dad
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive...3bigunit1.html

Quote:
MARCH 27--Sure, Randy Johnson may earn $16 million annually pitching for the New York Yankees, but that hasn't stopped the baseball star from trying to legally nickel and dime a woman with whom he had a "secret" child out of wedlock. The All-Star athlete, 42, last month filed a court petition--a copy of which you'll find below--seeking a rebate for $750-a-month day care payments he has provided over the past eight years to the mother of the pair's 16-year-old daughter. The child was born in September 1989, but it wasn't until nearly nine years later that Johnson and Laurel Roszell, 46, entered into a custody/support agreement and the so-called Big Unit began making payments. In an interview, Roszell told TSG that she chose not to seek financial support until 1997 and that Johnson has met their daughter once, while she was still hospitalized following her birth. Asked if Johnson, whom she lived with early in his Major League career, has ever acknowledged their daughter, Roszell replied, "Nope. Nothing. Never." She added that she broke up with Johnson midway through her pregnancy and that the girl was the star's "dark little secret." In addition to $5000 monthly in child support, Johnson agreed to pay $750-a-month to cover a portion of Roszell's day care expenses, according to an April 1998 California court agreement governing custody and support matters. In a February 7 motion filed in Washington's Island County Superior Court, Johnson demands the return of all 95 months worth of those day care payments, or $71,250 (plus $26,148.52 in interest). He contends that Roszell owes him the money, in part, because she failied to provide quarterly accountings for her day care expenditures. He also charges that Roszell has not incurred day care expenses for several years. In an interview today, Roszell denied Johnson's claims, saying that she has provided all required quarterly reports. And she added that, at the point she stopped working full-time at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and was able to spend more hours caring for her daughter, she asked Johnson's agent whether she could continue to receive the $750 payment. That request, she said, was approved. Roszell told TSG that last year she contacted Johnson's agent and asked for the athlete to pay for a car for their daughter as well as classes that the high school student was taking at a community college. After being told that her request was excessive, Roszell pushed back, arguing that it was reasonable. A Johnson representative, she said, then told her to "put on your boxing gloves." Soon thereafter, a copy of Johnson's motion appeared in her mailbox. A May 17 hearing has been set on the application by Johnson, who has four children with his wife Lisa and became a born-again Christian after his father's 1992 death. (8 pages)
Hey look on the bright side...Sean Kemp still has him beat

I'm amazed he's only 42, he looks like he's in his 50's.

He's a deadbeat because SHE ended things with HIM when she was pregnant then didn't file for child support until 1997? Things must work differently out in farm country than they do here.

He's a deadbeat because HE doesn't want anything to do with his daughter. Deadbeat dad has nothing to do with money.

And in regards to the money, he has plenty of it, he should have put them up in a nice home, and get at least his daughter set for life. Instead, he's a selfish ass hole and feels the need to hoard his money and not give any to his estranged family. He's an *******.

What a surprise BAM comes to the defense of a deadbeat Yankee

well in "the country" we have RESPONSIBILITY, and we like to stand up to it. maybe that isn't how things work in the big city massa, but we like em to lern us sum math soon and maybe we too can mistreat people as well

Yankee or not, you can't just say
"oh yeah I know I make more pitching every 5th day then you do in your entire life, but umm...yeah I can't afford to pay for day care this month"

Actually, it does. Deadbeat dads are divorced or otherwise unmarried fathers that DON'T pay child support. He has paid. Nothing he has done to date has made him a deadbeat. Wilt Chamberlain has hundreds of kids out there that he hasn't paid for yet no one calls him a deadbeat.

What a surprise that you post this stupid crap.

You have no details about the birth, except taht she ended things when she was pregnant. And it's not about being able to afford it, it's teh principle. You know what Uncle Sam does if you agree to pay child support but can't? They take it out of your paycheck.

I had the wrong definition of deadbeat, my bad. I'd still call him a ****ing prick though, not sure what the technical term for that is , Wilt Chamberlain too. Regardless of their accomplishments, they are/were still terrible people and I hope at least Mr. Johnson will DIAF.

Right after Mike Timlin and his dead pig kick the crap out of RJ, I'm sure it'll happen.
And kudos for admitting you got things mixed. I know someone who'll still call him a deadbeat.

Deadbeat not found...WAPCE to the max, however.

She opened her legs once 16 years ago, and has been earning $5750 a month ever since.

That's a better hourly rate than The Unit makes...

and he stuck his dick in....what is your point?
she didn't get the turky baster and impregnate herself
He dropped a creampie 16 years ago and doesn't want to be responsible for it now.

he is a prick, and he wants BACK 71k to boot.
if he decided to cut er off, that is one thing, but cutting her off AND requesting back 71k...that is just a dick move.

Like I said before, you have no details of the birth. Maybe he offered to pay for an abortion. Maybe he said "Let's get married." All we know is that SHE said no, and then demanded money years later.

Father's rights FTW.

OmahaDUI's logic hasnt really been tickling me the right way lately...however, Johnson makes a ****load of money... but $5000 + $750 monthly for a 1 woman and 1 child is more that enough. She wouldnt even have to work at all with that kind of income.

True, but the lawsuit isn't based on affordability. It's about the mom not giving proper records so he thinks that she;s spending the money on herself.

And DUI's logic has never made sense. He wanted his name changed TO "DUI"

Paying off the mother of your child in an attempt to avoid the 'deadbeat dad' label in my book doesnt fly.
