Default Honda Ridgeline Concept Makes A Cybertruck Look Boring

Honda Ridgeline Concept Makes A Cybertruck Look Boring

Quote:

Insert caption about dystopian future with zombie-fighting vehicles here.
Electric trucks are just beginning to take off, and already there are quite a few options to choose from, although most aren't yet available to buy. So far, the best of the bunch seems to be Ford's F-150 Lightning, but it does lose out in certain metrics compared to Rivian's R1T. Then there's Lordstown with the Endurance, which seems to have lots of fans already, plus a few other options from the likes of GMC, Bollinger, and of course, Tesla. But as more American manufacturers move into this market, we need to consider what the Japanese may offer, and thanks to a stunning new concept from Rene Garcia, it seems that the Honda Ridgeline of tomorrow could decimate all.

Garcia is a concept designer at ILM who has done work on glitzy television and cinema projects like The Mandalorian, Thor: Ragnarok, The Avengers, and Transformers. As you can see, that hasn't affected his ability to add real-world touches to a conceptual vehicle. This concept features a charging port behind the front Honda badge, a retractable winch, a frunk, and even an expandable truck bed that allows for the loading of a quadricycle. Tools and emergency kits are also included, as are roof racks and Bronco-style cutouts in suicide doors for light and ease of access. A skylight even features, presumably so-called for its lengthwise orientation.

The concept is said to ride on an electric skateboard chassis and features front and rear motors at each end with a battery pack in the middle. Inside, leather and wood are used to spectacular effect, while a full-width screen makes the Mercedes Hyperscreen look underdeveloped. A digital rearview display and a yoke-style steering wheel are also added, while practicality is further enhanced by seats that recline fully with a rear section that can open up to make a bed. That back section also gets its own interactive infotainment displays recessed into the front seats. Sadly, this concept has no root in reality, but we certainly hope that Honda (or even another manufacturer) will take notes and build something like this

Looks about right for our current dystopian world. Also better than the Cybertruck.

I remember the Avalanche. It was soooo popular and especially loved for its good looks.

But moms are driving their kids to school in jacked up 4x4 Sprinter vans with **** all over them, so I don't know what happened. I guess bring back the Avalanche.

Literally zero buyers in Honda's demographic would take interest in this.

So they’re looking to expand their marketshare?

That rear quarter view, yes.

Also, this looks way better and more useful than the Cybertruck which just looks like a rolling skate ramp.

Why did someone take the time to write an article about this?

It's some random graphic designer who could have slapped any badge on this that he wanted. We'll never see a ridgeline that looks like this. Ever.

Oh no.. this means the next Ridgeline is going to look like a melted version. Imagine a Civic Type R Crosstour.

Honda is in the middle of reintroducing dual-wishbone front ends to their cars and SUVs.. hey, you know what the kids really want? Windows in their hoods so they can see Macpherson strut top mounts. Ugh.
