Are us WRX CVT Folk still left in the dark for the MAP OTS? I've heard nothing but great things about the MAP OTS tunes but haven't seen any options for us lowly CVT owners yet.

Ian can you send me the latest update file for 91 oct?

I added 1 and a 1/4 gallon of 100 octane fuel from Rebel (cost 7.99 a gal which sucks) to a tank of 91 But what's so weird is that even with that in the tank, I still get DAM droppage (to .812), its the same issue I have without it. E85 appears to be no longer viable in Vegas, at least at the stations I've visited that had it before.

What does v7 do?

Hey received the v7 tune and installed it, and took a spin around the block after the engine warmed up. This is going to sound dumb but I'd feel dumber not asking. Got just a few miles on the tune but was curious if a full-throttle mid-rpm 1.41 FK is acceptable or not. It happened on the first pull of the new tune, felt good but that might actually be the first full-throttle FK I've ever seen.

Hmmm. I wouldn't panic per say, but certainly keep an eye on it. Let me know if this is a constant thing. I may have you send some logs in.

Well, I'm not sure what's going on, its almost like my car just isn't happy. So for fuel, I've been adding 100 octane (unleaded) race fuel, at over $8 a gal, about 1.5 gallons per tank on average. Despite this extra octane, I've been getting knock (FK) in numbers from -5-7ish, randomly, at WOT; and in low load low RPM scenarios (like trolling around with traffic at 30ish mph) those have been around -2.81 here and there. It gets worse in high temps and by high, I mean like 85-90 degrees which it got to recently. DAM stayed at 1.00 the whole time but those large-ish FK numbers at WOT put me at unease.

So for now, I'm going to flash back to COBB Stg1 and just see how the car feels. There may be a boost leak or something going on here, not sure.

Well I had to pull my stage 1 tune. This happened a couple months ago, just getting time to relay. I had been hearing a ringing sound after lifting off the accelerate after a hard acceleration. Sounded like a lose metal heat shield vibration, only sounded for a second so I figured I would get it looked at when the weather turned better.

It was during a cold snap in Chicago single digit temps and was heading to the dealer to get a oil change and check a unrelated rattle. On the way the car lost power and started pouring smoke out the back. It stopped then after a few happened again as I got to the dealer. They looked at it and stated they believe it was the turbo or internal. After looking over it to see the issue it was determined the oil seals had failed in the turbo due to the after market tune. After some back and forth Subi rebuilt the Turbo and I was only the hook for a new ecu cost.

I knew the risk but am concerned why the turbo failed. Is the Tune over spinning the turbo? Has anyone else had this issue? Could the ringing be from an unbalanced turbo at the higher speeds the Stage 1 induces over OEM.

MAPerformnace what do you think? Going back to the stock tune sucks.

a tune does not break turbo seals man... unless they were weak to begin with.. hundreds/thousands of us are tuned, our turbo seals havent broke. least they covered a lot of it. the ringing was a defective turbo from the start. it took more psi to bring the issue to the forefront.

Unfortunately I tend to agree with you. So I am thinking that by replacing the oil seal the turbo is still defective and once I go back to the tune (after warranty) I will see the same issue develop. I had been run the tune for 2 years prior to failure.

Do you know what the ringing would be. I was thinking the it may not be balance at the higher speeds.

Another concern is the exhaust system (catalytic converter mostly) that is coated in oil now. That probably should be replaced.

A turbo seal failing due to overspeeding is possible I believe, but these stage 1 tunes really don't put the turbo into more strain than it was designed for. Why the heck did you need an a new ECU?

I'm assuming (I know) that SOA would cover anything unless the owner paid for a new ECU because it had been tuned.

Bingo! I was also under the impression the Turbo would be replaced but they just rebuilt. rather disappointed. I feel this will return.

The cat gets hot enough to burn it off don't think it will be an issue.

Like the man below said, it was part of the deal regional rep want to be assured a clean ECU.

I did some digging on the ringing noise as I just installed my cobb stage 1 big SF kit. From what I've read the ringing noise is from the blow off valve after replacing the stock intake. It's supposedly normal and should be fine.

I'm not sure, but it does say knock correction should be within -1.00 and 1.00 on WOT. However I am seeing -5.00 and 7.00 when going low RPM's. Have you seen any difference or found a fix for your issue?

I swapped back to the v6 tune for the duration, since the weather's only getting hotter and the fuel more crappy. Can't afford to keep dumping 100 octane in, and it doesn't seem to make a real difference. E85 is unavailable anywhere near me, so I'm out of options. But v7 put up some pretty big FK's during WOT, not something I was comfortable w/

Default Intake update

Is there an update on the ETA for the 2018 MAP intake? I have not seen it in your store yet. I would be interested in trying your stage one before I go stage 2.

We have 23 made right now. We are putting them into inventory this week. I will make the official announcement, along with the link to the website once it's up and running.
