Default 2002 subaru impreza outback sport conversion

So i have a 2002 impreza OBS and I am looking to swap a turbo engine into it. I am wondering if I'll be ok with just my stock exhaust? is it necessary to switch it out for the turbo exhaust? I really would like to keep it quiet but upgrade to a little more boost from my stock ej25 thats leaking from the rear main seal. I understand I will need to change my ECU. Will I just need to get the ecu that matches up to the engine I swap into? Just plug and play? Any advice helps...

Thanks in advance

There's definitely more to it, yes you will need the WRX ECM/Wiring Harness.
With the Exhaust, you will need to remove your existing cat pipe because the down pipe from your turbo is supposed to have a cat. you will just need to fill the rest of the exhaust, if you have an existing cat back, just weld piping in between.

Other things to put into consideration

Youll need a wrx power steering pump and lines(will hook up to your rack)

The other belt driven attachments are the same.

Thanks for the reply, ProjectbugeyeMY02! I have been thinking and for now I am just going to replace my rear main seal and oil separator plate as well if I need too. Do you know if I can just turn the crank manually without removing any of the belts so I can unbolt the flywheel? I'm just looking to pull the engine without touching any of the belts if possible.

Maybe in the future when I get handy at pulling the engine out I am going to do more with it. For now I just need to get this oil leak fixed and replace my struts.

Removing the belts on these are so easy, should do it for the clearance, then get a socket and breaker bar on the crank pull to move it.

Right on, I am realizing now I should remove the ac compressor and the power steering pump. Is there enough slack in the belts that I can just pop them off and then unbolt the components and set them aside?
