Looking for Roobar manufactures..
This might be a crosspost because I asked the dressup and style guys but IMO this NEEDs to serve a purpose and I figgured the people here might now better because heck, some of you might use them! If I am breaking the rule, please delete.
A little background. I am doing a heavy buildup of my car, rollcage (soon) FMIC, built motor, redone drivetran, rally suspension and street suspension. I want my car to be a true dual purpose car. What I am looking for. Since I am going with the Blitz FMIC I am cutting my bumper beam. I think that I should get somthing in the front og the car to protect the car and myself in a frontal cllision or if some soccer mom backs into me in a parking lot. Well I had the idea... cowcatcher/RooBar! If I can get a huge hunk of metal like those brush guards that are on the SUVs and Trucks yet, be able to have air flow to the FMIC, protect the FMIC and also attach lights for offroad goodness So it comes to: where could I get one? I talked to the guys at rallispec and they basically told me it is a custom job unless I came acrosse a prodrive rally car and I happen to have a blowtourch What do you guys think? any ideas? Know any vendors? If you guys don't realy know where to get them, do you guys have any pictures of them on subarus? I might be able to talk a good welding friend into making one if it came down to it. but I hope not. Thanks for your time everyone. I hope this wasn't a bad crosspost. -Neal

Is it even legal to modify your bumpers/crash zones like that? I don't know, but I bet the jeep guys would. They would also probably have some good sources for you.

I am cutting my bumperbeam which is very illegal. The DOT would frown on that, but...I am adding extra crash protection. Of course the poor chap that decides to hit me will have a few extra bucks to pay in the body shop bill. Also since I upgraded my brakes...mabye I should put one on the back so my brush guard would headbutt the nice chrome brush guard of those tailgateing SUVs.

I am thinking to go with a brush guard too, but I also want to have option to install fog and driving lights on it.
Did you find anything which suits your needs, any pics? Thank you. Serge |

Rallispec (www.rallispec.com) used to fabricate a light bar.. but I'm not sure how effective it would be in a frontal collision. Try Primm (www.primmracing.com) as well.

Get a pipe bender and a mig welder and go to town.
Actually, look up 4 wheeling fabrication companies around your area. They will be more than glad to build you up something nice. However you really want to think about what this is going to do to your handling. If you are taking all this time to set up suspension, what is hanging 30 - 50 lbs of mild steel of the front of the car going to do? A better suggestion would be careful parking and more following distance.... |

They make bars like that for camrys in australia. I'd go look over there for something that might already be bolt on.
Yup, I was going to put one of those bars on my camry just so I can clear spaces in the company parking lot and maybe hang a couple of really killer oscars or something out front. |
