Default First detail on 18' STI

So today was a nice enough to thoroughly go over my new STI. It is a new car with just over 1k miles, but it still came with the "dealer installed" light swirls and a few other light imperfections from transportation, etc. After a few good rain storms the show room wax faded and I could see the light swirl marks on the hood and other parts of the car, likely from the dealer car wash. It's also pure red, which is very vibrant and similar to black in the sense that if the light hits it at the right angle, you will see haziness / swirls / a rough clearcoat.

For the first few weeks I would simply wash it real good, and apply some Meguiars cleaner wax for a little extra protection. This wax only fills in the swirls however, and doesn't fix them. I decided to hit the effected spots with Meguiar's ultimate polish. I was hesitant to use this because I didn't have my buffer, and went by hand. I took my time and used the cleaner wax afterwards as extra protection. I think the final product came out great. Here are some pics:

Looks good. Red seems to be one of the tougher colors to maintain.

Looks great. By the way, it is worth getting a buffer to save time and achieve better results.

I recommend doing IronX and clay ASAP. Not sure if this happened with anyone else but I had ALOT of rail dust on my car when it was delivered.

My BRZ was covered in IF...it turned the WRB to world rally purple. My STI presumably had minimal-to-none.
