Switch to a better platform. The bugeyes are the worst platforms every to try and make big (400whp+) power on. You will have much better reliability out of a late model Evo and it will be cheaper to mod to the power you want. Plus, it will be a newer car and handle better out of the box. I wish I would have switched to an evo years ago.

A thought out of left field, but a turbo 996 is 35-40k...
And good lord does that car crap on anything produced by Mitsubishi, Subaru, or just about anything else short of true luxury and super cars. |

Get the EVO. The WRX is a great car up to about 300-350 WHP, but after that I think it's better to upgrade to a more capable platform. Once you start having to put a new motor and trans in a car to handle the horsepower you want it's just not worth it. Pay the incremental cost of buying an EVO and you'll at least enjoy a higher residual once you go to sell it. If you put a new motor and trans in the WRX you're really not going to get much of a return and you're going to have to deal with the pain of a pretty serious build.
You can get 400 WHP in the EVO 9's stock turbo and BPU's. I sold my WRX and bought an S2000 that I'll turbo soon for the same reason. Motor and trans can take tons of horsepower, although the rear diff can be problematic at extremely high horsepower levels. |

well it's all about what you actually want - do you want a go fast in a straight line car or a car that can drive just as fast on a dirt/snowy road as a fwd car can on a dry road?
I had a turbo saturn with 450hp to the wheels, and guess what it was faster than most cars on the road in a straight line. easily. but it was still a piece of crap, it was dangerous to drive fast, couldn't handle well, etc. It was light, and had lots of power. So if you just want to be faster than the so called import tuner crowd you're in the wrong platform. |

You came in here with tears down your face on how you cant keep up with hondahs. You admit you have been throwing cash at your car with no positive outcome as far as........whatever you are trying to do with your car.........keep up with hondahs.
Now you want to big up your shop and tuner and tell me that i am insulting you. That turbo eats ****, and is lopsided as hell. What is it you want as you have not defined the purpose of your car/set up. you done already been through 18g xt 40ish lb/min , 20g xt 44lb/min, a green 49lb/min, and now hta 68 47lb/min? Yea you have been wasting money, what are you looking for? Your shop has been ****ing you or politely taking your money....and done. 4 maps for christmas sake? I hate the following statement because it is used for everything but If your shop is so bad ass and so is your lopsided turbo ASK YOUR TUNER OR SHOP......you know the one that has been excepting your $$$ and / THREAD Last edited by Dr. octagon; 10-01-2012 at 07:18 PM. |

[quote=Paul;38169122]+2 How is this car modded incorrectly???!?
Maybe you guys need to reread it cause his mods are a perfect combo for a fast stock ej205. The Nitrous is used to cool the IC so thats only helping OP: do what Ill proly end up doing: full ej207 swap for 7.5k and a rotated 30r kit. should do 350-375whp on pump and 425-475 on E85 tuned correctly (dyno jet numbers). Plus after you sell all your old parts you'll easily get several Gs back. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Both of yall talk to the same shop or hang with each other? You saying 375 cant be made on stock block 205? What can 207 do that built 2.0 with porting cant? You think 5mt will handle that 475, even if you are talking 2.0l you will be making quite a good bit of torque. You prepared to tear apart a 207 that fails on ya and rebuild it.......or will it be ej207 sucks cuz i thought i could run mad power son cuz ej207. Do you know how much work is involved in the research of buying a 207, or you gonna grab the one that looks the cleanest on the palate? |

Op figure out a reasonable end power goal within the limitations of the ej205. Then search the proven power section and figure out what power band you want. Do you want fast spool? Or top end? Without knowing what the use of this car will be there will never be an answer to your debbie downer question. |

This thread was about your car sucking and your inqiry as to why you should by and evo. Ask your tuner as we are telling you the same thing over and over. Go throw money at something else.
Was this thread supposed to be rhetorical? YOU HAVE NOT DEFINED WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF YOUR CAR OR A SETUP. ALL YOU SEEM TO WANT TO DO IS THROW MONEY AT THE CAR AND CRY ABOUT WHY SUBARU (your subaru) CANTHANG WITH RANDOM HONDUHS. I would love to have a decent meaningful, helpful conversation but your thread seems to be rhetorical and pointless. **** my personality, what is the goal of your car.......do you want meaningful help and insight or not? |

Nobody has anything constructive to add to this thread because we dont have anything to be constructive on!
Your goal is to beat 600whp cars on the highway? I did not disrespect your shop, i said they are ****ing you or politely taking your cash especially now that we know what your goal is Your right i will no longer reply as this thread along with your car/goal set is not worth replying too. Trips me out how you are throwing $$ all over the place, then the ****ing guy says his goal is smoke 600 whp vehicles on the highway. My bad, this is what i get for replying to noob ass threads. But i am a douche......okay Last edited by Dr. octagon; 10-01-2012 at 09:25 PM. |

to the op you said in your first post you would need an extra 10k to get into an evo you can easily build a high hp sti block for that and swap the tranny i looked into building every kind of setup imaginable (still am for that matter) im building solely for auto cross though either way if you stay subaru a built sti block is the way to go stroker or destroker motors are just too expensive my goals are a little easier than yours im looking for a 400whp/tq when you get into that kind of power its going to be tough to keep as a daily driven car and still keep reliability either way your gonna have to do some building at that point i would just pick which ever one looks better to you

Await constructive comments on how you can beat 600 cc street bikes. I think if you reread what your goal is you would be upset/scratching your head, going to bed. How much power do you believe you need to compete on the highway with a 600cc bike? Take your pick of platforms, then discuss built shortblock, built heads, upgraded fuel system, fuel, a turbo of non tampon size, weight reduction, better driving skill than you currently are using, $$$ and more $$$, 6 speed trans, ewg, fmic, research, research, research, research, a shop that will guide you in that direction instead of having you work the line up from 40lb/min to 49lb/min turbos, clutch, one hell of a tune, boost controll of some sort, cash for a rebuild, cash for a lawyer when you get jammed up for trying to race on the highway against a 600cc street bike. thanks or that philly. the thought came across of a v7 swap or even a sleeved 2.5l im just curious as i see that "hybrid" swaps do nothing but fail for some reason. it seems really you just have to pick your poison another member said this cheap, fast, reliable pick 2. |

My 2 cents; you say stroker and high revving in the same sentence. Let me stop you there. Don't do that, they were not meant to rev high. People will say they do, but the fact of the matter is they weren't designed to do that. If you want a high revving motor, you don't have to look far; GeneralTJI in Colorado went 11.75@117 on his stock 205 with a custom Holset setup, did a budget build 205 and a larger holset that revved to 8300, and is currently doing a stroked 22t with an even larger BW turbo. I think you're looking at a transmission (yes, to be fast AND reliable), a built motor of some cause (ASF can guide you there, also Colorado local) with a smart turbo combo (Harvey at BC along with ASF can point you there), and a healthy dose of E85 will get you to your 600 slaying goal. Or, jump ship and get into an easier platform. |
