Good luck Mike! Having done an up-pipe mod myself (Vishnu) It looks like getting the old studs out could prove to be a hassle. I'd save yourself some time by trying to get some new studs with the right material spec for the job.

Sorry Shiv.. I should be a bit clearer... I got studs with my up-pipe, thanks! It's just I got to see up close my original up-pipe, and wouldn't like to try to get those studs out to put it a new one!

BTW... My up-pipe is TOP NOTCH!

I got it from lbk16. He was gonna fit it, but his turbo housing studs were ruined by his dealership, and couldn't fit it (He couldn't even get his exhaust off!). I took it off his hands there and then. I have this reputation, where if somebody shows me something, I have to have it!

Thanks!! Think I'll e-mail Johnson at ultimate and ask him about the studs. Seems like a nice guy. Probley have to wait a week or two for the mrt to get here anyway. This is the up-pipe that Jorge at projectwrx used. Thanks again.

cool Mike, keep my posted as to how it goes and what you think. Thinking about a Up-pipe, I like Shivs but I don't have the money yet and Ultimates is slightly cheaper.

Look at Shiv, wanting to know if it was his kit that did not come with them, he was just itching to remedy the problem and make it right. That is cutomer service folks, that is why I'll be getting mine from him in the near future.

I have a UR up-pipe, and for the record the old studs came out easy enough.

I have one half way in.

http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...0&goto=newpost

And getting the studs out of the stocker really wasn't all that hard, just used an extra nut as a lock and crancked it off. WD-40 is a godsend.

Otherwise its a very nice unit.

Easy to get the studs out. Not an easy install. I wrestled with mine for about 7 hrs the other day. And it still has a small exhaust leak. I'm having fitment problems at the U.P./manifold juncture. Danman, and anyone else that is doing this install, post about your over all fitment. I'd like to know.

The key to fitment and leaks is to tighten everything from the bottom and work your way up and back... also USE NEW GASKETS!!!!!!

Once those things are crushed you have a 50/50 chance of not leaking... you either do, or don't...

I leaked at that exact same spot until I replaced the gasket... then no problems.

I agree it's a PITA of a job to do. We took 5 hours to put my Vishnu pipe on. No leaks though, and fit was exceptional. We had to loosen the engine mounts and lift the motor slightly to get the OEM pipe out. It worked out quite well, coz we didn't take the turbo off.

My only problem was not getting the EGT probe tight enough. I posted the solution in the Uppipe install underway thread by DanMan...

Johnson at Ultimate e-mailed me back last night and said the old studs should come out of the stock pipe ok. If I had any trouble or ques. be sure and call or e-mail him. I'll be doing mine soon as my mrt sys gets here.
