They'd have to put fairly nice interiors into them too. A luxury hot hatch? Interesting.

The BMW Chuck Taylor All-Star would be another luxury hot hatch

Also, that little hatch that Mercedes Benz made for a while that looked like part of it had been chopped off, but you couldn't tell which part. What was that thing called??

You just made my point. Luxury/sport hatches have been done here with very little success. You can't even name the damn things.

Also, a luxury hot hatch would likely lose the hard edge that makes the Astra such a great car and it wouldn't compete with the ST, which definitely isn't a luxury hatch.

I think it failed more because it had 190hp even when supercharged and had Mercedes maintenance costs attached to it.

The R53 MINI Cooper S. C230 Kompressor. Much slower than a Focus ST.

The MINI is a unique car, retro, good mileage, fun to drive and has history. The Astra/Buick love child, not so much.

The stereo in my MCS is just so-so. But.. it's faster than a Focus ST, and therefore better than a F430.

I bet a Focus ST with Jard riding shotgun would be faster than anything we've ever imagined, though.

As far as others the Audi A3 has done decently, and for 2012 and beyond it will be a 3 door.

How can you make fun to drive comparisons when you haven't even set eyes on one of the vehicles you are comparing, never mind driven one of them?

Astra has been around decades.longer than MINI.

Because of it's a Buick it will not be in the same price range, class, and will be dulled down from the Astra. How is that hard to understand?

Astra doesn't have a US history.

Conjecture. You have no idea if it will come as a Buick and whether it will be numbed up.

MK2 and MK5 Astra were sold here.

You still haven't convinced me that the comparison in the video is pointless to the US market. In fact it is quite relevant. And at that, I quit due to an NDA.

Conjecture. We don't even know if it will ever make it to market, so like I said, it's stupid to compare the ST to a car that I can't buy. Let's get back to comparing it to the Ferrari 458.
