Default Svx restomod

So get this, you'll either hate it or love it. I have begun to wrx swap a scrap svx. I have already swapped the rear suspension for all adjustable parts for a wrx including the rear hubs and I have put a full wrx fuel system in too. Both the wrx and svx chassis are completely stripped, the svx is a bout to get wired. The main reason for this tedious project; I have a totaled but running wrx with a built sti motor and spec b trans... the svx is a cool car, low and weird, but the drivetrain has always been its downfall.

So let's talk about the piston slapper im putting in this buttdragging pocket rocket

The Ej25 motor comes from a Gd wrx that had extensive modification

https://imgur.com/liwJ2V1.jpg

Mainly the motor has the common upgrades(el headers, tgv deletes...), and a ported vf48 turbo

https://imgur.com/qpUsTBd.jpg

The motor is a Iag stage 1 ej257 shortblock with ej255 heads

How much power was it putting down before the motor was pulled?

It was not protuned but I'm guessing around 300whp at 18psi, after a tune I am hoping for 340 on 93oct and 370 on e85

Update, I have removed the front end of the car to further remove the original wiring harness and other unnecessary accessories. also, relocated the wing to make it a wang.

SVX owner watching with great interest...
You probably know about the SVX forum. Lots of questions answered there if you run into anything.
Good luck!

Yeah only seldom do I get time at all to work on the car, but I try to do the most in the little time that I get. Aslo definitely will keep updating the thread, lots of stuff coming up.

lastly, I really didn't want to cut and gut this car, but when I got was beyond reasonable repair. The whole interior, the trans, rear suspension, and fuel system were pretty much destroyed.

Ok, so I've got the trans tunnel roughly lined up and have begun fitting the parts of the interior that depend upon the location of the tunnel. I wish I could have kept the original seats and dash, but I have too much wiring to deal with.

Going 5MT or 6?

Im putting a 5mt from a newer legacy gt in the svx, wish it could be a 6mt, but I don't need it for my power level and planned usage of daily driving.

Nothing wrong with the 5MT. Too much shifting with the 6 speed anyway. At least that's what we say when we have the 5 speed. LOL. My SVX is 5 speed swapped, feels right. Rode in someone's supercharged 6 speed SVX. Felt right, too.
Can always add blast plates if needed later.

Yeah, Id like the 6 speed, but I'm trying to keep the cost low and the return high. Supposedly, this 5mt is good for holding around 400whp reliably. Pretty cool though what people will do with Subaru parts to make their own Frankensteins.

Damn, dash swap too?

I'm assuming it's to ease the wiring, but damn. The SVX dash is great and I'd be trying everything I could to keep it.

That said, ignore me. Project looks great.

I completely agree with you HondaSlayer, I wish I could keep the svx dash, that was a huge part of why I liked the car. Wiring would be alright I suppose, but id have to chop up the original dash a lot and none of my hvac stuff lines up with the original dash, itd be a lot of custom work to make it fit the car again. Although I am keeping the svx dash, maybe ill do that in the future once I know everything works as it should.

Good new everybody! just got the Ej25 and 5mt into the svx. For right now its just to mock up the fitment. There are places on the car that I need to trim to fit everything for the swap. But now its not just an idea, its all coming together finally. Thought I was joking, didn't ya?
