Cluster temp issue has been resolved.
Managed to use the wires from the wideband harness that I decided not to use.

Started wiring the Defi gauges... and this is my previous wiring job.

And this is the remake.

Based on that it was time to take a small break from all the wiring.

Midnight sander in action.
Was going to start with 1200 grit but 2000 seems to do just fine.

Not looking for perfection here. Just an overall paint correction.

More to come.

I replaced my Defi connectors with DTM connectors. I got tired of the pins pulling out of the Defi connector.

Amen! I could stare at his wiring all day. I'm so envious . I always wanted to teach myself millspec but never got around to it before parting out my track car

First time I saw a Sti cluster lit up was at one of my first rallies back in 2006.
I was sold right there and then.

Trunk and wing have been sanded and polished.
Can you tell ?

Driver's quarter and door sill done as well.
Still some orange peel left.

Gauges are hooked up.. just trying to see if I need EGT...
Note.. Ebay mirrors dont frigging fit... Seems like the guy sent me wrong brackets.. and now its too late..

AOS is in with all its hoses.

The PS pump came in and on the good note it fits. Belt also clears the radiator.
On the bad note.. somebody dropped it and the pulley is bent and wobbles...

Did you research de-powering a power steering rack?
Iirc remove/turn down the internal pistons, pack with grease, seal the unused ports, viola!
Heaps of how to’s online if you’re curious...

That was the original idea to de-power.

I haven't opened the rack and greased it.. don't know how much is that going to help.

Also planning to run bigger tires as well.

Quite a bit, the steering weight issue is only felt when the car is stationary. Once you’re rolling it’s all good apparently
https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?5966-De-powering-the-steering-rack-plus-more-to-come-on-rebuilding-wrx-parts

I’ll have to search the actual effects on a car with quick rack, wide tyres, extra caster and 365mm steering wheel lol.

They like the feel here:
http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t75177-diy-power-steering-delete.html#/topics/75177?page=2

Could be worth trying with a junkyard fast rack before committing to depowering a big buck quick rack.

Off we go then...

Here we are in the process of wet sanding ...
2000 grit as I didnt dare to go 1200 and then 2000.

Rear bumper.

And the right rear quarter.

Roof in need of another go...

Practice makes perfect they say...

Rear bumper after the first 2 passes of rubbing compound.

Here is a comparison with 1st pass on the right.

Polishing part is done. I'll take some pics once it cools outside enough to open the garage door.

Power steering pump has arrived.
2nd one as the first one had a damaged pulley and looked like **** on top of that.

Install was a bitch as "somebody" probably used too long of a bolt and stripped the threads on one of the mounting holes.
There was enough meat to go from M6 -> M8 thus saving on helicoils.

All seemed good and I wanted to use the old PS tank.
Seemed like I could make it work.

With the charge pipe back in things just wouldn't align.
Ports were pointing in the wrong direction so new tank has been ordered.

Now.. for the main event..
Bit the bullet and got me a set of scales..
Figured... If I do my own corner balance few times it will just pay for itself.

They came few days earlier!!!
Heavy as **** .. each plate must weight at least 20lb.

It didnt take me long to put the car up on scales...
Now.. what do you recon it came at ?
Had 1/4 tank of fuel and passenger's seat out.

Post your guesses below..

Be sure to let the suspension settle and do it all on a level area when corner weighting. Enjoy, I put my scales to good use.

This was just a preliminary weight in to see if all my "engineering" paid off in any way.

Its OK if you go over but still be the closest to the number.
