Man, the flood of first drives has really upped the number of images available of the Aventador.
For whatever reason, the Murcielago never "did it" for me the same way the Miura, Countach, and Diablo did, but the Aventador does again in a big, big way. As far as the evolution of looks go, I can kinda see both sides. There are certain aerodynamic/computer modeling cues that haven't really changed since cars in the early 2000s. The evolution of shapes has been much less noteworthy than in prior decades. To my eye, though, there are enough changes and tweaks to completely transform the look of the car, and the Aventador looks no more like a Murcie to me than a Murcie looks like a Diablo. Not that I'm in the market for hypercars, nor am I likely to be closely tracking the depreciation schedule in a few years, but I couldn't see myself buying anything else instead if I were. It hits all the right buttons for such a toy. Which is ironic, considering that while I love the Gallardo for many of the same reasons, I'd have a real hard time buying one over a MP4-12C or 458, even though neither is as extroverted. I guess the Aventador just has it all turned up past 11 while the Gallardo's looks, sounds, and insanity just aren't compelling enough against its competition. |
