fuel pump not priming/ecu not on?
i was driving my car last night and it shut off. when i try to start it, the fuel pump wont prime, the utec doesn't have the lights on it either. my avc-r is tapped to the ecu wires, and it is getting power. i have a bad feeling that the utec or ecu are fried. anyone else have similar problems?
mods: utec tuner pro all fuel mods t-67 tgv delete front mount big maf etc.

First. Get power for the AVCr somewhere else. There are enough sources of 12v in the car that you don't need to be sharing one with the most important component in the car.
If you are lucky, one of the connections for the AVCr broke the circuit to the ECU. If not, try taking the UTEC out of the loop. It probably won't start with your mods, but you can listen for the fuel pump. Really lucky and it just wants a hard battery reset. |

fuse sbf #5 under the hood keeps blowing. only when plug 187 on the ecu is plugged in. far right plug. think the fuel pump is grounding out in the tank?

we actually found it to be the aforementioned fuse and it only blows when the 187 plug is in the ecu, there are quite a few grounds on that plug, one being teh rear O2. i guess well start tracing grounds tomorrow.

well we think we found teh culprit. The pony express MIL eliminator was somehow grounding out and plowing the SBF fuse #5. simple solution, pull teh rear o2 and plug the hole. how imperative is teh rear o2 to the ecu? We have a UTEC and TUNA in teh car.

Rear O2 is only there for emissions.

Basically, the instructor was driving my car, my fuse blew, and my car died. We towed it and then I pulled the fuse and swapped in a new one (car was off), and that fuse blew right away. Then, I took my ECU cover off, let everything cool down, and put in a new fuse. It worked and I drove home. Any ideas on my culprit? Last edited by nate.the.great; 07-26-2005 at 03:49 PM. |

no. this still hasn't fixed it. we still have no idea why this fuse is blowing.

i drove mine for about two miles, hit a bump, and blew the fuse.
i have since waited a day, then put a new fuse in it, and it blows right away. it is 90+ degrees here, and its hot in the car. i wonder if i removed the utec from the ecu, put it in the garage for a day, to allow for complete cooling, and tried it then... but that wouldn't explain why they blow when i hit a bump, or stall it. mine seems like something is rubbing. |

wild suggestion:
check the gromits where the wires enter and leave the engine bay |

try this...
1. make sure your ecu is cool - (i have some wires wired into my ecu and i moved those apart to make sure they weren't touching each other) 2. unhook your battery 3. drain your power by hitting the brake 4. install the new fuse 5. plug in the battery that worked for me. however, mine blew when my ecu was very hot AND we were in a turn. i wonder if the turn had anything to do with it. how weird... I wonder if that fuse blows when the ecu sees something weird (heat, etc...) Also see this post. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=521166 Maybe under extreme loads aka cornering or hitting bumps that wire underneat the rear seat gets pinched? |
