Thanks guys. And congrats to Ken too. I finally saw the picture when I got home last night. Mark, I'll talk to you about that 18g. And we may have to reschedule this weekend, my dumb ass probably ordered the wrong swaybar. Cornfead, glad to see your beast is on the road again.

I had the UTEC. Now running the Cobb AP. Mine worked fine for the first 6-8 months and then I had an issue where any time I got into boost the car would lurch and shut off... Took it off and replaced with the AP. All better now...

I see no reason to go with Utec unless you want to be able to change maps on the fly. Have you looked into opensource? Hydra sounds like its nice, but unless you are going big I dont know why you'd want to go that route either...

i see opensource as too risky, ive always had standalone and feel most comfortable with that, i will be going e85 with the hta68 and ewg and will feel better with standalone...i think

If you did decide to go opensource either myself or Clint would probably be more than happy to give you a crash course on tuning it the right ways. |

I have no problem with OS, I was debating between that and Cobb. The nice thing about Cobb is you get a bunch of different feedbacks and all your maps on a device the size of a blackberry.

it is convienent i am probably gonna trade in my v1 for the v2 apparently u get 200 towards the v2 for trading in the v1 so yeah totally worth it imo i think i just like the idea to be able to switch maps whenever ya feel like it and the v2 is tunable so thats kinda cool and all the live data it reads probably gonna get on that in the near future

Today I saw an Impreza getting towed with its rear wheels on the ground, by a flatbed with a Cadillac on the bed .

What makes you think open source is risky? It adjusts the tables on the ECU like any other reflash. It's no riskier than any other engine management. In fact, the data logging tools are so good, I would argue that it is less risky than many of them. Most of the locals run open source with no problems. AEM UEGO is one of the best widebands around, too. Altho the Innovate LC-1 gets the job done for me just fine |

I can vouch for opensource. Clint did a great job and we didnt even spend that long on it.

My question is if opensource is so awesome and no-risk, why are there so few shops that use it? Why would they even bother making any of the numerous available standalones? And Mark I believe that you flashed your ecu that many times, but why are there so many articles on the stock ecu's lack of memory? I know I've read that you can only reflash it 30 to 40 times til it's bricked.
I don't know, but if it was MY ride I would want it tuned by a shop with the funds to back up any errors that were made. If a car is tuned poorly or just plain wrong, I would feel better know that there is an established business willing to stand behind the work (financially). If they blow up my motor, they can afford to fix it... I look at opensource as being a cost effective way to smooth out and correct the factory's data. I wouldn't want to put a big ol turbo and injectors on a car without having some serious flexibilty as far as tuning goes. I don't doubt that you can give it a bit more power or smoothness, but I don't think it could produce the numbers of a pro-tune done in a controlled environment on a dyno with little or no variables (heat, air circulation, traffic, bad roads, tire slippage, etc... |
