What does the JCS TCII do?
What exactly does the JC Sports TCII do? It is hard for me to rationalize buying something for $250, that I don't know how it works. Their website doesn't explain it at all. Also if I new how it worked, it might be possible to make something similar for a lot less. How it works, or any ideas on how to create a similar product would be helpful.

The only thing it has actually been documented to do is lighten your wallet.

From all the snippets of info I've read, one of its tricks has to do with the coolant temp sensor readings.
The ECU is programmed to run a bit rich when the engine is cold, and so the TCII fools the ECU to run richer than it would normally, even when warmed up. This trick is mentioned in Corky Bell's book "Maximum Boost". I think it also does something with the MAP sensor readings. JCS posted a money-back satisfaction guarantee on the TCII a few months back, but I wasn't very confident that they'd honor it. Besides, my car is MAF-based. Whether it works (power-wise) or not, I was interested in figuring out how it works and publishing my findings on my website, similar to what I did with my S-AFC. -WaC Wayne |

It is kinda like "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?"
