I'd take one in pink or rainbow-colored. IDGAF - this is the only new Toyota I'd ever willingly give my money for. I'd even buy it if it was re-badged as a Subaru.

I love the sound of a turbo 3. I wanna make a locost or hillclimb car with one someday.

Default Toyota previews wilder Supra and GR Yaris -

torquemada Aka Torqky probably posted this so, but I'll slam it up just in case.

Toyota previews wilder Supra and GR Yaris
John Mahoney

Both hotter GR Supra and GR Yaris have been created for the cancelled 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon

Toyota has revealed what it planned to unveil at the cancelled 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon and among its line-up are a wilder take on both the GR Supra and GR Yaris hot hatch.

Painted in bright yellow, the modified GR Supra features new performance parts from in-house performance division, Gazoo Racing.

Of the parts Toyota has revealed, the fast Toyota coupe gets new front and rear strut braces that are claimed to improve steering responses. Cleverly, the new Gazoo braces are dampened, to absorb the jarring forces and harsh ride strut braces normally add.

The GR Supra also boasts a new styling kit and a new sports exhaust, that features black chrome tips and a bypass valve for a quiet setting.

More details of the uprated GR Supra are expected shortly.

Faster 2021 Toyota Supra arrives

Toyota hasn’t released any information on the GR Yaris it planned to reveal but, from the looks of the it, Gazoo Racing will soon offer a new body kit that includes a new front splitter, side skirts and a set of racing stripes.

As well as the uprated GR Supra and GR Yaris, Toyota has also released pictures of a sportier take on its Yaris Cross SUV and its fuel-cell-powered Mirai. Both cars feature new styling kits.

Stay tuned, because Toyota has announced it will release more on the January 15.

That's the exact yellow I've been thinking about wrapping my Impreza in. Yet another win for the Yaris.

Yeah, my DD is a Sonic Yellow bugeye. The yellow Yaris hurt a little bit when I first saw it.

Just thought of this......well the main thing for the manu.....your money, as well as mine, is still in the bank. It's a loss for us, yes, but more of a loss for them. They missed a lot of sales here. It's a niche model everywhere it's sold so that dog won't hunt. It's not a high production model anywhere it is sold. Yet customers are coming from the I can afford this crowd, I can barely afford this crowd, to 6 and 7 figure car owners. They are all buying. We should take a look at BRZ monthly sales numbers yet that is still brought and sold here because "but but Toyo is financing that", well this is a 100% Toyo model.

So in the end f em. They decided to be diks and not bring it here. Fine, my money is still my money. I have the cash to just write a check for the car. Murica is cookie cutter now. Every model is mainstreamed already or going that way sans more expensive cars. It's a fast food car market. Until that changes I'll keep my money. I don't want a bloated sedan and my preference is for a Japanese AWD hatch.

I'm not convinced there would be enough buyers in North America to merit bringing this over as I don't think this car shares anything with the Yaris we get here so it wouldn't be as easy as bringing a different model trim as it was with the Focus RS. They would have to go through all the North American crash tests, etc. As much as some of us are smitten with this little thing I don't believe most would put their money where their mouth when they realize it's going to cost more than a Golf R, STI, or 4-cylinder Supra.

The North American Yaris is a Mazda 2 and completely different from the global Yaris. But the North American Yaris is discontinued now. Ironically, Mazda will be selling the global Yaris as a Mazda 2 in Europe.

But I don't think Toyota wants to sell a sub-compact car in North America anymore. If they want to return, it'll be a Yaris Cross sub-compact CUV.

Out of curiosity because I haven't paid any attention, do they have a LHD version?

Also, I think they don't want to compete with the Carolla. I don't know, I'm with heavyD on this - I don't think these cars would really fly off the lots in the USA. There would be the enthusiasts who will check it out, but when it came down to buying it, I bet people would think twice about what else they could get with their money. Personally, I love the IDEA of the car, but in reality, it wouldn't be on my list if I were shopping for a car right now. Love it as in, I would sign petitions to bring the car here, and I take the position that car companies need to offer more than just CUVs to us, but what do I drive? I have 4, 10 year old cars that are all worth around $10K, and my wife's perfect car is the Crosstrek Hybrid. None of that would change if Toyota brought the Yaris GR-4 here.

It's a tease for a GR Corolla, I'm sure.

If the Corolla hatch GR comes with AWD, 6-speed manual, and a nice engine, it would be tough to not consider, especially considering that the current Corolla hatch looks pretty damn good.

I signed up to receive more information as it becomes available. I'd say it's worth a shot for everyone to at least sign up so we can have options.

It clearly states that the GR Yaris is not coming to the U.S.

With the demise of the North American Yaris, Toyota does not seem to be interested in the sub-compact car market in the U.S. Anything close would be a sub-compact CUV.

Hints at the GR Corolla is being developed but that is the compact car market. Even then, nothing has been hinted if it'll have the GR Yaris engine or drivetrain. Let's just hope it doesn't follow the path of the 2021 Corolla Apex.

GR Yaris dominated the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, stirring up an outcry in North America over its absence. And it's easy to see why. A radical hot hatch, GR Yaris is equipped with an all-new 268-horsepower, 83 turbocharged 3-cylinder engine; a rally-derived GR-FOUR All-Wheel Drive system; and a track-proven suspension. It's the same engineering that helped to make TOYOTA GAZOO Racing a dominant force in the World Rally Championship. While GR Yaris isn't coming to the U.S., perhaps it's time the U.S. got a Toyota hot hatch to call its own. One that continues to push the boundaries of performance. And one that can only come from TOYOTA GAZOO Racing. Are you with us?
At least Toyota acknowledges its existence and how cool it is.

Spoiler: it will be a FWD sedan and they'll throw the 3 cylinder in there because they don't want to develop another engine

Ha ha I signed up and I'm not even American just to bump the interest. That said nothing short of AWD will do for me as I'm not interested in a FWD Toyota in any capacity.

For a GR Corolla to be appealing it's going to need to be a hatch, I4T, 6mt, AWD w/driver adjustable bias, mechanical diffs, and be at/under 3,000lbs, with a similar out of the box power to weight as the GR Yaris (~10.8lb:1hp), and some headroom engineered in.

None of that is going to happen though, especially not the last one considering the current hatch is FF and already just over 3,000lbs. I think I just added 300-400 pounds of hardware to it with my wants. Toyota does have a 2.0 I4T they could use as a starting point, not confident the GR Yaris drivetrain could handle the added torque though, and certain it doesn't have the headroom I'd want.

no to mention that it will fill a need that people have for a hatch or wagon allwheel drive turbo car
