Default New Audi RS3 Getting More Power And The 2021 VW Golf R's AWD System?

Quote:
Audi RS 3 (2021) again with five-cylinder turbo
By Katharina Berndt

Ever since the presentation of the new A3, everything has actually been waiting for the most powerful variant - the RS 3. When it comes to performance, Audi will not spoil it. It stays with the five-cylinder turbo. Frank Michel, Head of Sales and Marketing at Audi Sport, let this shine through to Auto Express. The 2.5-liter engine with 420 HP and 500 Nm could increase 20 HP and 20 Nm respectively compared to its predecessor. A seven-speed DSG is still used for shifting. For the standard sprint, the three could come before the decimal point.

The RS 3 currently needs 4.1 seconds to run from zero to 100 km / h. The top speed should continue to be - electronically limited - at 250 km / h and be increased to 280 km / h for an extra charge. There is also speculation about whether the RS 3 will get a new all-wheel drive system from VW. More precisely that from the Golf 8 R and Tiguan R. There, the rear axle drive distributes the torque not only between the front and rear axles, but also between the rear wheels.

Visually much more aggressive than the base

Visually, Audi should also go a step further with the compact sports car and design it extra wickedly. Reason enough for the AUTO BILD draftsman to create an illustration of the RS 3 based on Erlkönigen. The front should have significantly larger air inlets and a frameless single-frame grill like the RS Q3. In addition, the Sport-A3 gets much wider fenders, which makes it look beefier. The roof edge spoiler at the rear is also growing and, like the other RS ***8203;***8203;models, is shaped more so that a central indentation is created. The color of the taillights is also based on RS 6 and Co: The glass is a tad darker than the regular model. A real eye-catcher should be the new apron with an embedded diffuser and two large oval tailpipes.

Market launch and price

Audi is likely to present the new RS 3 in autumn 2021, and it could be available at dealerships by the end of the year. In terms of price, the power compact will probably cost a little less than 60,000 euros, in the base.

I think the RS3 is probably my closest to ideal every day car.

Agreed Professor. Just can't bring myself to that transverse layout with the Haldex system. Miss the smaller packaging of the B5 A4.

the current 3 hatchback is gorgeous... so disappointing that we'll never get it.

Me too. I think the A4 is a much better platform than the Sedan-Golf-Haldex A3, but it's just so big now.

Modern cars and my preferences seem to be diverging, so a perfect fit is too much to ask.

O/T let's see what Acura offers with it's new sedan. If it comes with AWD I may be sold on it, if it comes with DWS/AWD and Manual I will definitely be sold.

The 5-cylinder engine is the best and worst thing about this car. Best in that it's a great engine and makes the car very fast in a straight line. Worst in that the added weight over the front axle makes the car an understeering pig even with staggered setup.

The new Acura looks nice but it’s a class bigger than what I need. I really hope that Acura offers an ILX Type S with the civic type R engine and AWD at some point. That would get my attention.

With the Golf R getting more front camber, I expect the RS will get more front camber? That should help a bit.

Acura announced a new small sedan coming already, not called ILX. Maybe Integra. Hopefully it's not just a 1.5L FWD 10th gen with nicer leather.

That's what I am meant. There is a "new" smaller sedan that Acura will be adding to their lineup. Smaller than the, massively huge exterior and insanely cramped interior, new 2021 TLX.

Gotcha. I’m obviously out of the loop. Here’s hoping for an awd civic type r with good build quality and a nice interior.

Default LEAKED: This Is The New Audi RS3 Before You're Supposed To See I

Quote:
LEAKED: This Is The New Audi RS3 Before You're Supposed To See It

The next generation of Audi five-pot power looks spectacular!
We've got just a few more years before we can forget about ever hearing Audi's iconic five-cylinder engine in a brand new car again. That's because Audi is planning to move over to electric cars only by 2026. We're going to miss it, but until then, the 8Y generation Audi RS3 is on the way, and it looks set to be the best one yet. It'll have more power than ever and will boast the fashionable drift mode that so many recent AWD cars are fitted with. We're yet to get the full reveal and all the technical info from Audi, as the company has been teasing the vehicle in crazy camo as is its custom of late. Fortunately, we've got a jump on the 8Y's styling thanks to new images leaked from Germany.

It's unclear what the original source of the images is, but they have been shared by aftermarket tuning outfit VAG Cafe. Without any camo on the car, we can see that our earlier guesses about the styling have proven to be correct. Our favorite new detail has to be the e-tron GT-inspired vent on each front fender, but that wasabi-like green paint is pretty attractive too. This model seems to be fitted with the Black Optics package, so the mirror caps, trunk spoiler, rocker panel accents, and front grille trim elements are all painted in a glossy obsidian finish. The RS3-specific daytime running light signature is also clearer in these images.

A new design of wheels is apparent too, with these appearing to boast a split between diamond-cut accents and gloss black painting. The typically beefy front brake calipers are clearly visible through these. Finally, we see a black roof and a new faux grille element spanning the width of the rear apron, with those trademark oval pipes framing the meaty faux diffuser. Inside, the RS3 will sport a customizable digital driver info display with readouts for g forces, torque split, and various drive modes. We'll report back with a more detailed evaluation of the new RS3's capabilities and features on July 19th, when it makes its global debut. Save the date and savor the moment - you're about to be introduced to the last-ever generation of five-pot Audis.

Wish they'd apply the box fenders they do with the RS4 and RS6 to their RS sedans. I don't like the rounded swoopy integrated look of the RS3 and RS5. Looks like they tried real hard to make larger fenders without looking like they did.

Oh my goodness. They stole the color and front side vents from a Civic SI

and turned them up to 11

I liked that Civic, so I like this RS3, but sooooo many people complained about the black plastic on the front end

Oh wow that's ugly. Looks like a KIA but more tacky. Used RS3 prices are going to go up even more now.

Nearly the entire front end is grille now. Where do they go from here? Incorporating grille into the hood and fenders? The side profile is pretty vanilla as there's little in the way of curves or fender bulges. New Audi's are looking a little stale IMO.

They made the same mistake as the first refreshed 6th gen Camaro. Having the upper grill and lower grills connect makes for an ugly black mass right in the front. A body colored line in the middle (just like the civic has) would break it up nicely.

Works on the Lexus IS, but this RS3 is a S*** ton of grill, where the Lexus is (surprisingly) "conservative" by modern standards.

I think it's two things on the IS that make it work

There's a fair bit of paint between the headlights and the grill, and there's a very strong hint of "upper grill" and "lower grill" separation due to the way that the grill pinches in.

The RS3 in comparison looks really crudely styled. It might look awesome in person though. Who knows.

The shiny black plastic from the headlights down to the front lip looks cheap and lazy. There's actually very little paint on the bumper cover as it's just the surround about the side vents and lip. Like I said before they have gone so far with the big grilles that the only way they can move forward is to start shrinking them again as I feel we have hit the point of saturation with big grilles. There's simply not much more that can be done and automakers are going to have to start getting back to work after coasting this decade covering front ends with a lot of black plastic. Maybe as things go EV it all goes the way of Tesla with no grilles?

Your correct. Like always follow the money. So cheapest way to get air in there. Big black honey comb mass across the front. I don't get out to dealer lots much these days. It was interesting to speak with some buyer at big multi brand dealership recently. Everyone expressed their opinions on several brands styling. Lexus, Everyone Dislikes Their Front Ends ugly Razor Blade front grilles. Also, everyone disliked the tail lights on the Civics. The whole boy racer Type R. The center stack console In the Acura also the Badge on front grill to big. But the Manufactures aren't listening. They usually wait till it's to late.

I found their inspiration for the front end/grill design.
