![]() Not really direct competitors. Even with torque vectoring that AWD system is no match for xDrive with the rear M-differential. When the new M2 comes out that would be a better comparison. I will say the new A3 interior is ultra-cheap and maybe the cheapest Audi interior in recent history. VAG has gone too far with dieselgate cost cutting IMO.

![]() I really do like the look, styling and interior of the RS3. My only gripe is that it does feel like a fwd vehicle (hard to explain unless you've driven one). Definitely a fun car and would make for a solid DD / fun vehicle.
Still would go Supra / M2 lol |

At $60k, which is a tad more than we paid for a base Macan with the 4cyl, that looks like a bargain to me with that crazy drivetrain. All the I see this entirely opposite. "Why would I buy a POS terrible to drive, won't fit anywhere truck when I can buy a perfectly sized 10 second super sedan?" |

![]() I was tempted with that black on black RS3 they shipped out as launch cars. It was $62k. I had just paid off the Tiguan and GTI for half that. It's a hard sale.

![]() IS500 F-Sport ~58k (V8 8at)
CT4V Blackwing ~67k (V6T 6mt) M3 ~74k (I6T 6mt) Some of the cars I've priced out/considered; vehicle pricing is stupid these days, at those price points I expect to get exactly what I want. IS500 would be a no brainer if it came with a 6mt, stuck with black interior though, or worse, white interior. CT4V blackwing I didn't like the V6T in the ATS-V, and it's "the same" one here (albeit slightly different), and I hate that 5,500 of that MSRP is a forced package because I want ventilated seats. M3 - I don't want to own a German car outside of warranty, and frankly 74k is more than I want to spend on something like this; A 340i 6mt would be more in line with what I'm willing to spend, but they don't offer a 6mt. |

I don’t think Audi refers to it as Quattro anymore. It’s a good awd system but you can feel the limitations into corners. I’d consider most RS trim Audis a “fun luxury” and not necessarily a “sports” sedan. BMW has definitely stepped up its interior / seats for current model, previously I preferred the Audi Seats in their RS trimmed cars. I do find the RS3 slightly over priced. I could low to mid 50’s starting with optioned out at $60k-$63k. I’m going to assume the G87 M2 starts at $65-$67k and tops out around $75k (non CS model). |

In my street and track experience with a Mk7.5 Golf R, the system is only FWD when AWD would bring zero benefit to traction or handling. That "FWD" feeling is mostly a chassis alignment / suspension geometry issue: not enough front axle bite compared to the rear. I have never driven any RS3; but the fact that Audi had to fit wider tires at the front compared to those at the rear tells us that Audi went to extremes to fight understeer. I give them points for trying hard ![]() Having said all that, of course, the M3 AWD setup is better ![]() Just for comparison purposes, and more for myself that anybody else: - M3: 112" wheelbase - M2: 106 wheelbase - Previous gen FR/RWD 135i : 104.7" wheelbase - RS3: 103.6" wheelbase (same as S3/Golf) --> tiny |
