Default Spring Installation Cost?

What should I be looking at in terms of price for a shop to install springs and re-allign the car? Local dealership quoted me at 600 5 hours of labor?!

dont ever go to a dealership to do stuff like this. they rip you off.

just get a buddy and got to autozone or somewhere and rent a spring compressor and do it yourself.

do it yourself, it's not that hard, and it will save you a lot of money.

Yea I know its probably not that hard I just don't want to install them. Also, I want to get a shop to do it so they can re-allign (sp?) the car then and there. I'm sure many have done this, how much should it cost?

any local shop would be able to handle it. just call around and make sure they can do it. maybe ask some people who have had work done to their cars where they had it done. when looking for a good shop you cant ask to many questions. just dont go to the dealer. doing my springs myself with new struts took me and a buddy 2 hours to install. then i took it to get an alignment, toe, and camber checked. that cost $120 to get everything adjusted correctly. if the dealer your taking it to is a flat rate shop then they will charge you 5 hours even if it takes them 1 to do. im not a mechanic and it did the job in 2 hours without a lift. so they are deff quoteing you high.

$30 to rent a spring compressor to install the springs yourself, $60 to get an alignment done to the proper specs (0 toe, as much negative camber, 0 cross camber)

I might have to invest into this tool one day in the future when I change to coilovers.

cumminstools.com...hmm...they have great tools? I'm looking to build up a toolbox that's going to be used for my future career, and I'll need a good set of tools.

I asked around a few shops and they all quoted me the "book rate" at 150 a corner. Needless to say I ended up doing it myself. With the money you save doing it your self you can build up a nice toolkit.

Heck , just offer some pizza and some drinks, and most people on NASIOC will help you do it.

I know that I did another NASIOC member's pink springs for free -- sight unseen.

There are nice people online. Just try and see.
