2004 Wrx running rough when coming to a stop
Hi guys,
As I'm driving after a few miles, I'm getting rough slowing of speed and pulling , it started yesterday not sure what it is. I've checked MAF and air intake so far. Mods are: Invidia catted turboback, lighter flywheel , clutch. Symptoms are: rough driving after 5-10 minutes of driving. Starts coming to a stop while "cruising" on neutral, for example shift to neutral cruising on 15 mph and I instantly go to 10, 5.. Stalled this morning while going 3 mph. I didn't stall, car just gave out. Any help is appreciated Thanks!

You drive a 16 year old car, it could be a lot of different issues....

Are you getting any CELs?
First thing: Check for any vacuum leaks. Did you clean your MAF or just look at it and say , "Yup, it's still there? " You have an IACV, right? Ever clean that? |

No CELs of any kind.
I cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner thoroughly. No vacuum leaks so far. I have not checked the IACV, will do that next. Thank you |

Update:
So after the MAF sensor clean I went on to clean out the IACV. Ordered the replacement gasket as well. It took awhile to get here but I replaced it a couple days ago. Did the idle test, and it all checked out. Averaging around 800 rpm at idle. Took it for test drive and it checked out. Two days later, symptoms return and nearly left me stranded. Readings for AF ratio, Fuel pump duty, and MAF all look good. Will recheck for vacuum leaks but unsure on what the issue is. |

You need to R E P L A C E your MAF and your BCS today. These are not clean and pop back in things, you need to swap them out. Checking for leaks on all vacuum hoses is fine as well.

So I wanted to update this in case any future readers come into the same or similar issue.
After checking the IACV (good amount of carbon) and checking for leaks it ended up being a hose leak right next to the Solenoid. I had a Boost leak and Smoke test performed a month ago and everything check out after replacing the hose. Only reason it took me month was due to wfh I wasn't driving my car and also has several things come up where I wasn't in a trim crunch. Would have been different in other circumstances. Thank you |
