If this does in fact fix it, could you query the service folks at your dealer as to what actually is occurring in the MC? And whether or not it is indicative of a failure of the MC later on or just an annoyance?

Mines doing it too, but I figured out it was just the spring on the pedal. Annoying.

He told me that they found the "click" coming from the clutch MC and that they replaced it. He also stated that this is a common click and that its just an annoyance. (sounded like a stock answer).. I'm just happy it seems to be fixed. That "click" feel/noise was like nails on a chalkboard. The problem also started as a "once in awhile one click," then turned into a "its usually there click." There was also intermittent double/triple clicks, which seemed to be happening more often. Here's with the triple click: (yes I changed my shoes) Here's with 2 click, 1 click, no click... |

Has the clicks come back at all? Mine is doing single clicks and is driving me insane! Its not as loud as yours was but i can hear it (passengers cant). If this is a permanent fix, then off to the dealer i will go.

Since I"m out of warranty now (except powertrain) I'm not going to replace any parts with OEM that I have to pay for. Will probably go the same route as the guy above if I can find a competent welder! |

btw, mine does it sometimes when I'm not touching the clutch at all...just the brake. So I KNOW it has nothign to do with the clutch M/C.

Mine had a bad squeak in my G35 that was the spring in the clutch pedal assembly. I'd guess with a clicking it's the spring binding or popping.
I remedied it by using some lithium grease on the spring and working it into all the nooks and crannies. For a truly rewarding experience, remove the spring entirely. Doing this gave me the old school clutch feel back on the G and it was much easier to feel the engagement point. |

Same thing on my 1 month old car (2011 WRX)! First few weeks were click free, but now it happens every time I push down the clutch.

Thanks for the info. Is the MC something the dealer will have in stock? Or will I have to pull what I did with Honda (my wife's 09 Accord was in the vin range of Accords with a creaky steering column, but the noise was very intermittent and I couldn't get it to reproduce in front of a tech...they also wouldn't order the part till they heard the noise......so I ordered the part myself as if I was going to pay for it....showed up, they reproduced and voila, the part was in the counter with my name on it...though now I wasn't paying ).

Mine clicks also. It has since about 100 miles. Not annoying yet, but I will address it if it gets louder. As for now, I have to be listening for it to notice.

Well my 11WRX just had this clicking noise this morning. I got all the 11WRX issue - speaker buzz, boost gage light/needle.
Damn.... what's next? |

I just wanted to throw out an update: My pedal stopped clicking this week. It's been cold here for a while, so I don't think it's because of the weather. It had been clicking since September, but feels totally smooth and fine now. No idea why!

Mine comes and goes. Generally when it 'goes' it's only for a week or two. Sometimes it seems weather dependent, but last winter it was worse than the summer and now this winter I had about a 2.5 week lull where it stopped. There really is no rhyme or reason .

Yeah given that some of the 'fixes' have included the master cylinder, one of these days I'm going to disconnect the rod from the MC and test it to see if it still does it. If it does, then it's the spring and/or other mechanisms down there...if it stops, then it's the MC.

FWIW, mine hasn't done it months now, after pretty steadily doing it for around 2 months. The Subaru gremlins are fickle beasts.

I'm telling you guys, the spring is held in by two clips. Pull out the spring, Lube it up and either put it back in, or just leave it out.
Try the clutch out for a day after removing the spring and I think you'll be amazing how much more you can feel the engagement point. Felt so much nicer on my G35. |
