You know, BFG is having some kind of presentation thing going on I think Monday of nats... Might need to light a fire under them in person for the proper boost buggy size.

Sounds like simple overdriving, unfortunately. Heat management is a thing with all tires.

You're not wrong, but I shouldn't be able to overheat a tire on my scout run even if I am driving like a pissed off teenager...

That style of driving sounds like exactly how you overheat tires. Does your car basically push from one corner to the next?

Nope.

The only time it does that is when I really screw the pooch on my braking point. I've tuned out the vast majority of understeer if you get your core principals of how to drive fast right. It'll turn in at just about any speed, but all sorts of other things end up going wrong afterwards... lol

The type of over driving that happens in my car typically sliding the tail out giving it to much loud pedal or the tires giving up (to much speed) mid way through a longer corner causing the car to 4 wheel drift wash out until you can bleed enough speed off to keep her on line.

The oversteer was far more prevalent prior to removing the rear sway bar. (I should have listened to Xian sooner)

Here's a video of a run. Its the my 3rd run, the car's 5th run of the day. This run was enough for 14th overall in PAX, 9th overall RAW.

Looks like the car still has understeer, mostly being overdriven on throttle. If they're barking, you're going too fast. Oh, and also you suck for having such a huge place to autocross :P

Oh I am most def the one at fault. lol

The car exactly what I want it to most times, and when it doesn't it usually a result of me asking to much of it.

The AMS lot is kind of awesome. The only down side is the far end has this painted sealed pavement that sucks...

I sure do love four wheel sliding over the sweet jump between the two though.

By rule of SCCA, BFG's v1's are illegal as they are not offered in enough diameters. I dare someone to protest...

All of CAM would be eff'd.

I did look at that a month or so ago... but I think they are grandfathered in because one of that statements about if the tire was legal when it originally came out.

But I am going to look at the rule again just to be sure. I am a little bitter that BFG doesn't make a size that will fit a 18x9.5 wheel properly...

Loopholes with loopholes... I was chatting about it with someone last weekend and found it funny.

There's no 285 BFG for us 2wd guy's... I'm still on the 285 RE71's, but Borg swears the Vette's are better on the 275 BFG and that it's just as wide as the 285 RE71. I just picked up another set of wheels to test it out, but damn the BFG's are over $1300 a set!! OUCH!!

The BFGs are the better tire for sure.

The Bridgestone is best if you keep them in a very narrow temp range. If it falls\pushed out of that temp range they suck.

Every single Vette I've raced this year have been on the BFG.

I'd be on the BFG if they made an 18" that fit an 18x9.5. The AWD guys are a mixed bag between the BFG, Stones, or Nexens. All of the GD chassis guys are on BFGs and the GR guys are mixed between stones and nexens.

I disagree, and personally hate the BFGs. Both the Stones and Nexens have been great on my car though.

Having only ever driven the stones and bfgs at Bristol on very different cars, I'd say I'd likely prefer the bfgs as they felt more like hoosiers. The stones were more peaky, but you really had to manage them well to get the most out and if you went over you better be prepared to catch it.

I've heard similar feedback from reputable drivers. I never had any problems keeping Re71r's in proper temp range but that was all up North where in rarely gets as hot as GA.

I liked the 255/40R17 Bridgestones just fine before switching to 255/40R17 BFG's due to Stone availability back in Summer 16. My findings back then were that the Stones needed constant spraying and were heat cycled out before they ran out of usable rubber. That might have been because of the constant spraying. However, my PAX performance was not significantly different on either tire. Even my setup didn't really change between the two. BFG's do seem to take abuse better and can be run well past the wear bars before becoming appreciably slower. Aside from that, BFG's contingency is WAY better :P
