Forgot to mention that I put my notice in also, so I'm just cruising for the next three weeks with even less to do. They aren't having me start any projects or anything, so I'm doing jack squat.

I foresee a 2 hour lunch today.

By 9am (MST) I will be the only person working today. The boss took off, his wife, their slacker ass son who would get canned at any other company, and all the techs since no one wants a plumber during the holiday.

Today definitely blows. Bonus, uninterrupted porn viewing!

So what part of IT should I major in, or specifically focus my studies on?

I was thinking CCNA and Linux, but I dunno, and I damned sure don't want to do programming.

Depends on what you like to do. You have to sort of find your niche. Your degree will be less important than you think. Programming is not just sitting down cranking out code either. There is the whole software development process, not just hacking code.
What is your current technical background? Do you like math?

I am actually from Philippi. Moved to Birmingham area when I was 15.

Ahhhh.... Philippi. The only thing to do is "make babies". I miss those days.

I work in telecom, pushing paper and phone numbers all day. I've gotten to go down to our switching office from time to time and out in the field to our cell towers. I like tinkering with things with my hands, not just on a computer screen. I can figure out just about anything given enough time and a quiet room to work in
I'm only getting an associates for right now. The college I'm going to is a technical college (not like Herzing or VC Tech, but a for real college) and they offer CCNA, MCSE, Oracle and CNA certifications. I think they offer Comptia's A+ and Internet + or Network + something. I'd have to look again.

Too routine, It was fun when things changed every single day because of new FCC mandate's but now everything is pretty much stable and well... just lame.
