Prices were $99, $199, and $299 prior (many years ago) on subsidies. Phone prices went up. $450 off is the same damn thing. My end was $350 out of pocket. Sold my existing phone for $350 so net zero $ for the upgrade. Same as Iíve done since these things came out. Each one of these carriers has deals of some kind. BOGO, multiple lines, etc. They arenít going to make it super easy for you save money, you actually have to put in some work on your own. It hasnít gone away, those people just suck at negotiation. They want to be spoon fed, and they can pay for the privilege. If you arenít willing to research, negotiate, or hustle, then pay full price.

If people donít negotiate thatís on them. Doesnít mean the discount or money off is nonexistent like you say. I have to negotiate every year on my kWh plan for the house, home internet, Satellite bill, homeowners, auto insurance, name it. All of it is negotiable. Just like buying a car or leasing one, itís a negotiation. Those who do not negotiate get took. I got a XR a few months ago for $0 but I spent the time to research and negotiate as it was worth the time. Nobody is going to hand you free stuff in this world. If suckers want to pay itís on them.

Dude, youíre missing the point completely. The MAJORITY of people upgrading their iPhones are not aware of how to get phones for less or near 0. Just like most idiots donít know you haggle on leases. Using yourself as an example and applying it to the masses simply doesnít work.

Not to go OT, but Iím hoping VW will change the suspension tuning and tire spec if theyíre going to up the power in the MKVIII. Simply adding power to an already delicate launcher is lazy. The eDiff and traction control do their best at current power levels, but the way the engine delivers its power it makes for a wild ride. Adding power should be the last item on the to do list.

True story.

I've got a MK7 GTI and I don't want for more power, that's for sure. Any more power and you're going to have to add AWD to make it usable and then you've got an R.

I think VW has already done their homework on this one: FWD Seat Leon Cupra 280. It's basically a 276 hp GTI with the same peak torque figure as our current GTI.
It's using their XDS/XDS+ brake-based torque vectoring assisted by their electro-mechanical VAQ spool/LSD (which, I understand, is standard equipment on the latest GTI).
But, yeah, I agree, it's still going to be somewhat of a handful .

That's the GTI clubsport S. 306 hp, electric lsd. No AWD. Would be fine.

I doubt the base GTI will push 250. 300+ wil be reserved for the R and special edition GTI's so they can try to break ring records.

Me too, but I'm due in 8 months, and this is the first time I don't feel like upgrading my iPhone (7 Plus). I might take the new model from my company and sell it, and continue using the 7 Plus. But Apple may learn their lesson for 2019 models.

Just give us more power on the Alltrak SEL, to match the sport seats and 6MT. I feel like the 1.8T has been 170 hp for like 10 years.

Well most people are fíin idiots, period. They wouldnít know what to do with themselves if their apps, social media, and tv didnít tell them what to do.

BTW, most carriers got some kind of ďdealĒ going on right now.

Shame...VOA and VOC is content with giving us a base or a 10hp bump in the performance version, while ROTW gets models like Clubsport or Clubsport S. Oh well, I'm probably going to keep my MK7 for quite a while longer.

The GTI is under rated from the factory. They dyno WHP at or above the figures VW states. For 2015 cars the GTI (210 hp) has a 14.2 quarter mile time while the WRX (268 hp) has a 14 second time. If the Mk8 GTI has 260-270 hp (which will be wheel hp) itíll far surpass the WRX. I canít wait to see what VW releases. I love my 2015 WRX, but the GTIís motor is so far beyond ours itís sad. I donít need AWD and will be moving on once thereís a hot hatch that catches my attention. This is my first and last sedan. I need a hatch in my life again.

The gti engine is superior, no doubt. But the wrx kills it in traction. Before i bought my r i drove an autobahn gti and on clean, dry, warm roads, it still lacked traction. From a roll the gti will do fine on clean dry roads, but in the real world thats rare.

Part of that is the **** tires the car comes with. When I stuck my 1/2 worn Dunlopís from my WRX on my wifeís Ď16 GTI it mad a huge difference. Still not AWD but much better. I have the Quaife limited slip (PP) also which helps. Have a set of Indy 500s on her summer rims now but havenít installed them on the car yet. Based on my WRX they should be even better.
