Default Not a Subaru, but enjoy!! 05 EVO GT30R

I wanted to share this after my recent trip to chicago I got a chance to tune an '05 Evo.

Here is the mod list:

-AMS GT30R kit
-850CC Injectors
-Aquamist Meth Injection kit
-full 3" TBE
-GSC S1 Cams

Here is the power it made on Pump gas (compared to the old tune):

301 WTQ and 362WHP before

301WTQ and 367WHP after, the biggest gains are earlier spool up and broader powerband @23 PSI

Of course on pump + meth @ 24.5 PSI (we could of gone for more, but he wanted a conservative boost tune)

337 WTQ
409 WHP

^^^^ Hopefully REALLY low, because those are pretty unimpressive numbers for a 30R Evo. My best friend has a 450 WHP 30R Evo, and that's on an extremely rich, non dyno-tuned street tune.

That's some pretty sweet spool on a 2.0l with cams. Nice job.

I will have to get the baseline #'s for a completely stock evo. I know a stock STi puts down anywhere from 225-235WHP on this mustang dyno.

The tune and dyno done previously by AMS (the one my pump gas tune is compared to), put down at or over 400whp when they tuned it. I should also be able to get you those #'s in the next day or so as well, I will have to talk to the owner again.

Thanks, I was happy with the spool up over the original tune, and how much longer and solid, not to mention smoother at the same boost levels.

I've done a lot of searching on the Evo forums since you guys posted up info, and you don't see too much on there with Evo's on GT30R's but the ones you do are between 370-450whp or so depending on dyno's

The other thing to consider is this car on pump gas w/the customers car tuned by AMS it dyno'd over 400WHP on their DynoJet....

So you can imagine what 413WHP on this dyno looks like on AMS's Dyno

exactly, a broad powerband and making the most power you can throughout the RPM range is far more important than just making peak power for a few hundred RPM

That's how i've always approached tuning and what has allowed me to make such gains over some others...the extra time and attention to aspects that make for a faster and feeling more enjoyable to drive

Nothing wrong with going a little conservative at the customer's request

Good job guys! I'm working on a GT3076 Evo 9 myself and we were up to about 420whp @ 25psi on 100 Octane when we ran out of fuel. We're running 1000cc injectors so the fuel pump is the most likely culprit. Once we get the fueling issues resolved we shouldn't have any issue hitting around 450whp. Considering stock Evo 9's do about 220whp, this car has really been impressing me.

hey matt, what gear is this dyno'd in? im just curious cause it looks like full boost is at what? 4500?

if so, that's about 500rpm later than a subaru. i guess that's what that extra cubic inches will get you!

^^ well you also have to consider EVO's have 500rpm more range than a subaru AND the older evos without the MIVEC head produce slightly less power. Nice numbers none the less.

4th gear,

Also for those interested the car ran a 11.1 @126 monday at the track. His previous best on the old tune was 11.8 @120-121 range.

Times talk! That's a 500 WHP car on any dynapack. Your dyno definitely reads low, as most Mustangs do.

Come on now, a DynaPack reads no higher than a DJ If anyhing, it reads lower and it even says "flywheel" numbers on the graph LOL. Anyway, all of the Internet folks will forever get wrapped up in the "numbers".

When a shop buys a chassis dyno, hopefully they will do their homework and select one not based on purchase price, but based on their needs. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen that way the majority of the time.

Concerning the car posted, EVOs generally are quite quick compared to Subarus (mod for mod). They suck to work on and have weenie connecting rods but still make rediculous power.

Ever worked on a Subaru? The 4G63 is MUCH easier to work on. I'd much rather work on my best friend's 3065'd EVO 9 than my own Subaru.

Oh, and pump gas for pump gas, he puts down more power with his 3065 than I do my 35R.
