Default REV9POWER (Godspeed/Gimmick) Turbo Inlet Review

(excuse the image quality above^)

Bought myself a REV9POWER Turbo Inlet from "Image In Motion." This is basically a Godspeed inlet, which is basically a Gimmick inlet. I purchased it out of necessity having broken the breather off my OEM inlet.

Build Quality 4/5
-
Quote:
5 Layers of fairly firm Silicon
- Brass fittings are a nice touch as they corrode much more minimally than steel, are lighter, and I like gold :3
- 1 Aluminum fitting
- Fittings arrive inserted, but are removal for install
Fitment 1.5/5
Quote:
- It fits
- It's tighter than a virgin on prom night. Contacts pretty much everywhere, but it's got 5 layers and most reviews I've read don't mention them wearing through:

- PCV to inlet hose needs to be replaced when installing this; it is not long enough. See below:

- Many reviews indicate Gimmick/Godsped are a straight pipe, however this tube has a slight S curve toward the turbo, assisting with install.
- The inlet to turbo mate is not perfect, but is still held firm by a clamp
- The BPV return sits a little far forward and does not seat flush "hose to inlet," but it still held firm by a clamp
- The OEM hose clamp is not big enough for this hose around the turbo, i had to upgrade to a 3.5" clamp (OE is 3" i think)
- The MAF end of the inlet is too long, and required me to pain-stakingly trim ~3/4 off of the inlet.
- The inlet comes with a stainless steel coupler that is too wide to fit inside the OEM post-MAF piping. It required a significant amount of effort to get it in, and I would be surprised if a leak formed even without a clamp.
Install 4/5
Quote:
- This is no more difficult than any other silicon inlet, really.

All in all, the install is fairly smooth with the assist of silicon spray. Since I purchased this out of necessity, i will likely upgrade to a better inlet when funds are more expendable (likely a Tomei, as I like the silicon arms and straight fittings better from a fitment perspective). I have a steady idle, and though I don't have a boost gauge, don't believe I have any vacuum leaks (can't hear hissing, don't see any bubbles forming or getting sucked in). The worst parts about this install were the fitment, and the OEM hoses I have being so hard. I had to, in one case, zip-tie the EVAP hose (by the rat's nest) with some silicon to insure no leaking. If I had bought an ancillary kit, I'm sure the last act of the install would have been smoother. Saw some white smoke on start up and warm-up, but soon dissipated so I can only assume that was some of the Silicon lube I used on the pipe getting pulled through and burning off through a leak in my exhaust.

It's a decent bang for your buck at $140CAD

After driving for the last few days, i have to say i'm happy with the product. With some extra attention and hose clamps, it's a satisfying replacement for the OEM inlet.

How did you get the inlet to mate to the turbo snout? I have the same inlet but am having difficulty to get it to mate without kinking, so I went ahead and ordered a Perrin inlet since it has that indentation to work around that part protruding close to the turbo snout.

sorry my man, didn't see that there was a reply to this. I used some silicon spray, and a pry bar to get it to slip onto the compressor, it did not kink for me, but I didn't do anything special.

UPDATE on the above product tho:

Been just over a year since I installed this inlet. No leaks, no tears, no degradation to the point of inlet collapse. I will be upgraded to a Tomei or Mishimoto inlet, as I am replacing my turbo, but this has been a satisfactory purchase for me.

$Would by again$
