Changing interior engine pieces doesn't make a car a lot faster. It goes hand-hand with other aftermarket parts, such as exhaust, turbo, injector, intercooler.

One could say, I didn't build my motor to make it faster, I built my motor because it broke and i want it support/withstand more abuse from other aftermarket parts.

Thumbs up 93 and up headgasket spec thread

Is there a way to sticky a thread of a compiled list of the specs for all head gaskets 93 and up? From the 1.8 to the current 2.5's of compressed thickness. I haven't found a thread that isn't a mish mosh of garbled information on this subject so far. Information varies from thread to thread. I could start one but don't know where to go for reliable specs.

I was wondering if anyone could update this sticky with links to closed deck blocks?

I know S & R Performance makes one, what about other vendors?

Default Im new to this forum and im looking to build my 1997 Subaru Legacy GTB

Hi

I just purchased a Subaru Legacy GTB EJ20R 2 stage Rwin Turbo.
I would like to build it to get top end power and at the same time have excellent acceleration, and keep my twin turbo.

I am in the uk at the moment, and a garage over here told me that to get kind of power i need to have a 2.7 bore.

My question today is if ej25 parts will fit on my engine and if so if the
"AMS EJ25 Advanced Plus Engine Rebuild Kit W/Crankshaft" will be able to work.

Question about tuning and spark plugs. I had 3 cylinders misfiring in my '09 ej257. It had been dyno tuned with iridium plugs. Switched out and put in double platinum plugs. Will this affect my tuning/do I need a retune due to the new/upgraded spark plugs?

If you are going back with oem bearings with original clearance and don't plan on any machine shop doing the work, your main torque spec concern will be the case and head bolts. After that, you can get nit picky and try to torque all of the tiny bolts holding the accesories on but I do all of those by hand.("elbow pounds" ) The case and head bolts require specific procedures / sequences / torques. There is actually a tear down thread on RS25 that has the torque sequences /specs. I'm not sure where they are here, you usually get led to a dead or dying thread like the one just linked for you. So many threads here that end with "anyone?" or "bump for help".

Some RS25 threads, the first has links to the good stuff including teardown/reassembly:

Tried the search a few times. But still can't seem to find a how-to for an engine rebuild.

Found the one for the tear-down. Now just need the reversal with torque specs... pretty much dummy proof. Lol. First time ever doing an engine rebuild

I ran across these videos on youtube and I don't recall seeing them before and they are pretty easy to follow.

Short Block Assembly:
http://youtu.be/-gmtEQ1GpmA

Head and Timing Install:
The only thing that I was a little uneasy about in this video was how fast he compressed the timing belt tensioner.

Cylinder Head Removal:
