Default 04 FXT - $7,750 (STI-Protuned, JDM 5MT, 26MPG!) ​

Summary
Up for sale is my 2004 Forester XT located in Charlestown, WV. It has 172,8xx miles and was used as a daily driver but currently is garage kept. Paint is in OK condition but as all red Subarus go, the clearcoat is failing, and there are the usual nicks and scraches here and there. This FXT was put back on stock FXT struts (they are old/squeaky in the cold) to be more of a comfortable highway cruiser but can still get up and go rather quickly (protuned to around ~300WHP by IAG. Dyno sheet is below). In addition, I constantly get ~26MPG on highway cruising to and from work (Charlestown WV to Ashburn VA). In December of 2017, a JDM 5 speed transmission was ordered and then inspected by Andrewtech. They had replaced several worn bearings and sent the transmission back to us for installation. At that time it also received a new Exedy stage 1 clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing and OEM rear main seal. Andrewtech recently (September 2018) did a full inspection of the vehicle and the recommended replacement of the passenger valve cover gasket, oil cooler gasket and oil pan gaskets. That work was all performed at Andrewtech and receipts are in the car. There was also a small power steering ooze at the hard-lines so they also replaced all of the hardlines with OEM new replacements along with a oem replacement power steering pump. This was just recently WV inspected in August 2018 - so if you are a WV buyer you are good to go for another year. Overall this is a sleeper that can get up and go quickly with its nearly ~300tq and 19lbs of boost.

Reason for Selling:
I'm wanting to get into something a little less modded, automatic, more comfortable for my long drives into work. Preferably something stock that I can lightly make into my own.


Recent Maintenance (all in the last 12 months):
-Power Steering Fluid flushed and refilled
-Brake fluid flushed and refilled
-Coolant flushed and refilled
-Transmission fluid was renewed
-5MT transmission was replaced with a JDM 5MT
-Rear diff was starting to wear, it was replaced.
-Driveshaft was replaced with a OEM FXT driveshaft
-Power Steering high pressure hard lines replaced by Andrewtech along with all rubber hoses
-Power Steering Pump
-Passenger side valve cover gaskets (Replaced by Andrewtech)
-Oil Pan gasket (Replaced by Andrewtech)
-Oil Cooler Gasket (Replaced by Andrewtech)
-Rear Main Seal
-Clutch/Flywheel and Pressure Plate (Exedy, however its a stage 1 and not holding power well, price was reduced as this was my mistake)
-Shift linkage, and all bushings were replaced. Shifting overall is incredible responsive and feels completely new.
-Transmission Mount bushings completely replaced, no transmission movement or slop remaining.
-Tires were replaced a year ago with ContiDWS 06. Less than 4K miles on them.
-Front and Rear O2 sensors replaced.

  • Grimmspeed lightweight crank pulley
  • Grimmspeed AOS
  • Fumoto oil drain
  • APS sidefeed fuel rails (Only sidefeed rails that are true North-South flow, discontinued)
  • Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator


-Transmission/Drivetrain
  • 08 WRX shift linkage
  • JDM FXT 5Speed Transmission (Installed December 2017)
  • Cobb rear shift linkage poly-bushing
  • TiC Replacement Linkage Bushings
  • Transmission Subframe Bushings Replaced (July 2018)
  • Very recently changed transmission and diff fluids with OEM oils.
  • Filled the air gap in the diff bushings with silicon
  • 2007 STI Front Sway Bar
  • Rear Sway Bar (Removed, have mounting hardware on hand)
  • FXT Driveshaft (Replaced September 2018)
  • FXT Rear Diff (Replaced September 2018)
  • Exedy Stage 1 Clutch (with pressure plate, pilot bearing and release bearing) (Replaced December 2017)


-Suspension/Steering/Braking-
  • Stock FXT Struts
  • CTSV Brake Swap kit with Cadillac 4 piston Brembo calipers, Hawk pads, and STi front rotors
  • STi master cylinder and brake booster
  • Stainless steel braided brake lines
  • Superblue brake fluid (or whatever rallysportdirect sells as it's modern equivelent)
  • STi lower control arms
  • 04' STi steering rack
  • Poly steering rack bushings
  • Perrin anti-lift kit with comfort poly bushings
  • Front subframe risers removed (this requires a bunch of mostly uninteresting wrx and STi parts; trans crossmember, trans mounts, to name a few)
  • Kartboy front endlinks
  • Forester STi specific aluminum rear lateral links


-Interior-
  • 06 STi steering wheel
  • Matte black center console
  • JDM Forester STi seats
  • Custom Accessport mount
  • Clarion Receiver in a OEM upper dash pod.
  • JDM lower cubby fitted into lower double din dash spot.


-Exterior-
  • BBS Wheels with Continental DWS Tires (Less than 2,000 miles on them)
  • JDM cross sport grill (Modified to be an open mesh grill, needs finishing up though)
  • Hella Supertones

The Not So Good[list][*]Stage 1 Clutch is not holding the power. 5th gear is starting to slip a little at LOW rpm when you floor it. It pulls just fine when accelerating normally or under full boost through all gears. -- I lowered the initial asking price by 250$ and reinstalled the upper dash radio mount and JDM cubby to make up for this.[*]Like most FXT's of this age, there is a slight smell of gas. There are no leaks, from what I've read it seems to be an evap leak somewhere with one of the worn rubber hoses.[*]As mentioned above, the older FXT struts are squeaky. If you're planning on dropping this back on STI struts this wont matter. I am open to negotiating the Eibach 25mm sway bars also to make up for this.[*]As mentioned above the clear coat is failing here and there and there are the usual dings here and there from a car thats been driven over the years.

If looking to trade I'm on the lookout for high mileage (stock preferred, or close to it) CTSV's. I'd think about other types though.
