I know EL vs UEL doesn't figure in that is why I didn't mention EL in my post I specifically referenced "new Uel design" bc one we don't give a **** about EL headers in the thread and two this is a thread about a UEL header build.

2005 is the one year that you either get shafted or not on parts and issues. I think the legacy guys have way better luck with the switch than Imlreza owners but I've only heard of a few cases where the Borlaug caused the p0420 and the sensor didn't need changing.

When I put my Borlas on, they did give me the P0420 on my 04. I do also have a cat between the two sensors. I was forced to space out the rear just to trick it.

Isn't spacing the 02 sensor bad for the fuel calculation? Or is that just 05+?

It's only bad for 05+. For the older cars, it's a great solution.

If this thing bolts straight on and doesn't throw CELs, I am so in for one. I can't wait until these are actually sold.

The sound difference with the stock catback was so subtle, it wasn't worth filming.

The STi axle back helped bring out the rumble a little, but it obviously requires a full catback to complement these headers. The sound was more of the Borla variety than the WRX type (at least that's what it sounded like to me, with this particular setup). There are two other header configurations I can experiment with (three if you count a 4-1 design).

Your constructive input is appreciated

^^^ Sounds awesome man.

It might be the video / quality, but I was thinking that it would have more low end. More low rumble. Especially when the car is idling. It might also be the distance from the car, and the open air too.

It does sound awesome. And at the higher RPM's sounds very similar to a stock wrx exhaust. At lower RPM's (in the video) there's not much low end "growl" if you will.

Can you confirm this? Would you be able to take a video inside a garage with no wind noise or something?

See below for the example of the low end growl Im talking about:

Video clip ain't too bad at all. But like you said, you would need to utilize another catback to fully present that boxer rumble. I would like to see another axelback video clip to see if it helps bring out that rumble

And it doesn't sound like a Honduh

Just so you guys all know, I just put on a greddy ti-c axleback coupled to my ebay uel's, trackpipe and double resonated centerpipe, and without sounding boasty, the best NA you will ever hear.

I will take a video this week for you guys, so, at least now you know what axleback to get

The only down side, my double resonated STI centerpipe, that was extended to work on the car, had to be extended again and the rear flange cut and rotated. $40 was very worth it.

Mike I think that subtle rumble is perfect couple that with a more open CBE and BAM!

I'll have one of those

It's painfully obvious the STi axle back isn't doing these headers any justice. I hesitated to even post the vid, but I just wanted to give everyone a small taste of things to come. I'll put together a proper catback and re shoot the vid.

Not to be a downer though the work you're doing is amazing. As soon as you get a nice deep tone catback, this setup will sound great.

I was just posting the video so you have an example to try and emulate (not only sound, but camera position etc).

Can't wait to hear more.

ok, let's try this again...

I extended and installed a STi midpipe, then stole the piping + hangers + tip off the STi axle back and added a new Magnaflow muffler.

Here is another outside vid for comparison:

The rumble is clearly more pronounced, but there is still room for improvement. Even with the free flowing 2.25" catback, it's still pretty mellow. Zero rasp and zero drone while cruising.

That sounds really good.

Like you said above, still mellow, but the sound is amazing. And yes, I bet the Tseudo exhaust would sound great. It's even more open, and a bit louder than the magnaflow.

Blk6s, if you ever take off the current setup to change things around, take a video of the car with just the straight pipe (no muffler). Just for kicks
