Seems to be pretty clunky and I can't help but wonder if some of that stuff could get replaced to improve performance. Then again, what do I know? My last car was not nearly this cool!
Everything I have read suggests that the stock intake is in fact one of the best at this level included on a stock car. Also, the mass airflow sensor causes issues when it reads higher airflow, such that it might throw a CEL. You could always add a lightweight pulley to the engine, but negating the harmonic dampener can end very badly in a few years. Look into the aftermarket and/or custom headers being developed right now. This guy makes them:

http://rallisportracing.com/

He can make you a custom header and catback exhaust, the whole setup, even though it's still under R&D, according to him, will develop up to about 10 more hp and torques from what I was made to understand, though he is still working out the finer details. Also sounds way better. Apparently the amount of power produced depends on where you want the power to be generated in the power band. You may already know all this so sorry if this is all redundant information.

Well, anyone who's been giving you the idea (myself included) that the BRZ Exhaust is a bolt-on for +12 Impreza 5-Door model is a damned liar... unless they're doing it VERY wrong.

While the BRZ and Impreza 5-Door exhaust share a lot in common, there are some turns and angles to the piping that don't work out so hot. In the end, we decided to do a bit of a hybrid between the BRZ and Impreza exhaust to make for a nice-looking (and incredibly affordable) Dual-Exhaust look.

There is a slight "Boxer Rumble" that still manages to make it's way out when it's revved higher, but it's nothing that a Boy Racer would wet his pants over. I'll be doing a little more aesthetic work that includes extending the tips out so they meet the bumper as well as a rubber seal around the edge of where I cut into the bumper to give it a more polished and clean look.

There's great ground clearance, no loss in power (in fact it might have improved a little), and fuel economy doesn't suffer.

Let me double check this, but I have LED DRLs and for me they are the only lights (as far as I can see) on when I flick the DRL switch. I did get them professionally installed though by a friend of a friend and am not sure exactly what they did.

P.S. I could be totally wrong but never hurts to check

P.P.S. I'll post a couple pictures soon

what do you mean? isnt it just suppose to go on when you press the brake pedal ?

Did a little more work on the BRZ exhaust install. I was trying to figure out a good way to have a nice clean look for the openings I cut open in my bumper. After a little brainstorming, I came up with this!

I used a "Door Edge Guard" piece for the trim. It would normally go along the edge of your doors as a rubber guard to keep you from dinging/damaging nearby cars when you open them. I had a hell of a time trying to find them for whatever reason, but Auto Zone had 'em for about 4 bucks. I cut them to size and, thanks to the adhesive along the inside of these pieces, fitted them around each hole I had cut out for my exhaust.

NOW all I've gotta do is figure out how to extend those tips out a little further. They're pretty far into the car! If I need to make the openings larger to accommodate whatever exhaust tips I put on there, I've got plenty of leftover Door Edge Guard to redo those new openings with.

Something like this could work... Exhaust tip

They have quadtip options as well. Should look sweet once you have the exhaust tips exposed

What material is the Door edge guard made of? do you think it will melt under high heat from the exhaust tip??

Looks really nice by the way! Keep up the good work!

What is incredibly affordable? do you have a number for us? Does that price include your employee discount?

I've been thinking about doing a quad tip. There's certainly room, as evidenced from my first exhaust system. It'll look a little more "WRX-ish" if I go with that idea, too.

No need to use a discount on this one. The Stock Impreza exhaust I already owned (obviously) and I didn't buy a new BRZ exhaust. One of my buddies just put a Perrin Exhaust on his BRZ and wasn't using it. It took less than an hour in the shop to weld the two together. It also helps that I know the folks at the shop pretty well and helped out with the installation in general, so this went on for a grand total of 50 bucks. It pays to have Subaru friends!

The Door Edge Guard is a hard rubber. Firm enough to be kind of tricky to put on, but bendy enough to contour to the bumper. It also has an adhesive that runs along the inside of it, so it pretty much glued itself on. I had worried about melting with this, but so far after 80 miles of driving on it, it's held up perfectly!

I like your headlights. Get some chrome-bulb turn signals to get rid of the amber bulb and youll be totally colorless.

Love the logos, maddbill! Rally Armors look great on it, too! I almost would say to do the red logo rally Armors to match the accent of red on the logos, but the gray looks great too.

Love what youve done with your car man!! The STI RSB is amazing eh!?? I just installed mine too this past Saturday. Really improves the overall handling and feel of the car. I love it. If you drive stick, you have to get the kartboy SS.

Where did you get the subaru logo? I want that! =)

I too need to get rally armors... been holding out just cuz of the money even though I know I'll eventually buy it. Trying to space my modding.

p.s. I just noticed your in Toronto too! perhaps we'll do a photo shoot or cruise one of these days. haha

As promised. A few quick snaps. Unfortunately, my Flickr Pro account ran out, so they're only JPEG, not RAW. But they still look decent. Canon 60D, unedited.
