Thumbs up Finally got my WRX tonite....silver 5-speed sedan...

I got my car tonite....it was almost a two hour drive..each way. So this was my first time driving a stick since last year...and I never drove one of my own, just friends. So I make it out of the parking lot and WOW not stalling...a little shudder...but off i went, I drove for a while...and i realized....ish this thing has alot of power. Anything over 2500rpms is good. Whoever said there was lag is on crack. Yeah the meaty part of the powerband starts in the middle but there is no lag. Anyone else have trouble getting it into gears, I have to really slam it hard to get it into each gear, esp first, its VERY notchy. Will this break in over time? Also I had it up to 100mph and 5500 rpms (not necessarily at the same time) and now i feel guilty. But it was just TOO good and TOO irresistable. Someone make me feel better.

Glad you got it Samirr. Did you finally sell your Legacy?

As far as the break-in, while it is a VERY good idea to stick to the limits that are in the owner's manual, a few adventures above the 4000 mark will not hurt the motor. I wouldn't go bouncing it off the rev limiter though

And as far a turbo lag is concerned, personally I feel the response of the turbo before 3000-3500 is absolutely horrid. But looking at the stock set-up, Subaru really had no choice. The factory boost solenoid is a very big culprit as is the factory downpipe(and I'm sure the up-pipe as well now that a Cat is living there). Thankfully these things are easily fixable and the car will then work more like it should and was intended to. I can't express enough how much of a difference good downpipe and boost controller make as far as getting the most out of the turbo( I did not say raise the boost).

Sorry, can't help you with the tranny bit. At the moment, even with the STi shifter, mine feels superb.

Good luck.

My Legacy is till for sale...I'll take the first $4500 for it, but will still consider other offers of course. I got an offer from an i-club member in Colorado for $4500 but having problems arranging for shipping of the car, its just too expensive and I dont htink I wanna drive 1800 miles.

Hahaha you guys all crack me up!! Unfortunately I got this Cisco class every friday night and it's supposed to end in May. I'm so booked until then or I woulda been at atco this friday. Hey I actually got in a lil race tonite while taking my friend out for a spin in my new rex. I had actually driven to Atco raceway and was fooling around the roads back there. On the way back on 73 north I come across this early 80's malibu you know...like a hooked up one. I could tell he was comin from Atco raceway. Anyways We both started off this light like at a naromal pace and I decided to gun it...even though there was a car in front of me. I slowed up as I came up to the car in front, by then the malibu got the idea and he hauled up behind me, soon we came up side by side and I took off passing him quite easily. A tthe next light he pulled up next to me where I was making a left turn and complemented my car and asked where my spoiler was I asked him a few questions about his car, he had a worked 350 small block, I asked him if he was going all out back there and he said he was on it about 75%. We both thhumbs upped and went on our separate ways.

The earlier today I had to go to Pep Boys in berlin to take back a defective bulb. On the way out I saw this old guy staring at my car which was across the parking lot. I wasnt sure if he was staring at it or not but I didnt mind. As I got close to my car he yelled sometthing to get my attention (not quite sure what he had a thick italian accent) and told me I have a very nice car. He asked me if the foglights were aftermarket and i said no they were stock and his eyes lit up in amazement! He asked about the hood scoop and I told him the same. He got even more excited and I told him i just got the car last night. He kept rambling on and on about how beautiful and unique, and amzing the car looked...after a while I thought he was a little nuts. Finally i started to get in my car and he told me to take good care of it, be careful, and enjoy my car....he said that a few times, and waved me off.

Well thats Day one in the life of Sam's WRX!

Thumbs up

Hey Samirr!

Congratulations! You strike me as a good guy, and I'm happy for you!

Aren't thes cars great? I "snapped" yesterday with 964 miles on the car, and HOOFAH! - this think goes like a scalded spider monkey on crack! What fun! I don't think I'll be able to keep my foot out of the throttle, and I think this car will change my driving style. IMHO, don't worry about varying the revs a bit but just keep it under 4,000, in general, for the 1st grand or so.

Don't feel guilty. I get my car up over 100mph every day on the same stretch of road on the Meadowbrook Parkway North on my way to the gym. And I'm only in an RS. She is steady as a board at 110. I must look like a Military plane or something flying by all those commuters!!!
