I did this to my EJ205 when one cam bolt gave out on me. After I welded a 1/2 nut on the head of the bolt. I was able to break it with a breaker bar by myself. I need to do it to two more of my ej’s. I’d like to start a thread for my 24 hour of lemons wrx (yes I got a wrx for the cheap) but I need 3 replies first. Can someone help me out please? Much appreciated

My buddy snapped a head stud one time and that was a blast getting out. Thanks for the tip.

I use this same method with suspension components on Midwest/East Coat cars. Works wonders. Great old school tip!

Sometimes better to spend a little more and not have so much money invested in the lemon cars from my experience.

Great to know! I Went to remove mine to replace cam seals during a t-belt change. They were wicked tight so I left them alone. Good to know this for next time! https://youtu.be/Lsqts5oISK8

Another solution (not sure if mentioned) i used a 3” extension and a 17mm socket. The extension provides a place to seat my air hammer. Ram the 6 sided 17mm socket over the cam bolt. Takes a good bit of force but then it zips off with the impact. Then using the bench vice i use the air hammer to knock the cam bolt from the socket. Always works for me. I have a welder but for those who don’t this trick is great. Plus I have a very large collection of Chinese sockets I’ve collected in a drawer over the years. ***128513;
