Default My car got totaled yesterday!!

Heres the deal.
I was leaving work at 5:30 like I do every sat. I made a right hand turn onto route 109 in farmingdale heading west towards my house. I was doing about 45 to 50 coming through an intersection in which I had the green light. Some old bitch:monkey: decided that she was going to tun left, blowing the red turn arrow and not being able to see if anyone was coming! I swerved right, and hit the brake to avoid it, but it was useless. I T-boned here in the right side b piler. Air bags went out, car started to bleed coolant all over the ground. I had it towed to my dads friend's shop. When I got out of the hospital last night I went to see it, and its worst than I thought. The engine won't crank, and the nose is destroyed. I will try to get pictures up if I can. So now I don't know if my insurance company is going to total it or fix. My body guy said it's border line, he thinks. At this point I want it totaled. The car will never be the same if they fix it, and will be worth nothing.
The thing that hurts the most is that the car was 5 weeks old to the day. And I had a brand new STI grill on the car for a week. only 2500 miles on here.

Sorry for the rant, but I am mad and sad and need to get this off my chest. I don't know what to do, it still dosen't seem real.
By the way, everyone was fine, nobody serious injured, but we did go to the hospital. i have a bad airbag burn on my arm, and my back hurts.

The cop wrote up the report that she was at fault, he put she failed to yeild the right of way. And I have a witness that said the same thing.
I'll let you guys know what happens.
Drew
R.I.P., godspeed little scooby, you were just a baby, never had a chance. I will miss you always!!!

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
Mike, I am lost for words as well.
Maybe this will all work out, and I can get another one real soon. But I don't know what to do.

Drew,

I'm comiserating with you and I'm glad you are okay. The little WRX gave up its life for your's... sad but true. Let the anger go. The other driver may never drive again and maybe shouldn't but time will tell. It's crazy but people don't even think about pulling stuff like that illegal left hand turn. I see it all the time and it's the main reason that I slow down at every single traffic light/intersection. Somehow, we've got to try and keep from getting creamed by idiot drivers. I'm not into lawsuits and that kind of stuff but her insurance carrier owes you a new WRX and some $ for pain and suffering, lost work, etc. I'm with you on totalling the car. Don't even let them try to fix it up. It's not worth it in the short term and the resale value of the car is now squat. Keep us posted on how it all turns out.

Br, Dale

Yet another reason why a road test should be required at the age of 75. Sorry to hear about the loss but I'm glad nobody was hurt.

that sucks.

glad everyone is ok, cars can be replaced.

From the sound if it, its totaled, and if there is engine damage...you can probably bet they will total it .

hope everything works out for you.

Thanks everyone, I am hoping everything moves fast, and I can be back on the road ASAP. I am most likely going to goet a yellow, or a white 03 now. I don't know yet. I am going to see it again right now, and I will take some pictures. I will try to get them up tonight, if not I will put them up tommarow. Thanks again for all your kind words.

That stinkd dude.A real pity to loose a new car but at least your're here to talk about it..

But..

I have a question/favor for you.

If the car is totaled call,OM email,Pony express me or whatever.

Also,If tits totaled can you ask what the buyback would be on it.

Depending on what it all works out to I would want to take a look at it and maybe buy it.I'd even be willing to throw you some free mods for the favor when you get the new one.

Plus you'll get to see your car live on.

here is a link to the pics. I took them last night, so they are not that good. But you can see how bad it is. I will try to take some more photos today, and get them up, but I'm not sure if I will be able to.
Thanks again to everyone for all your support through this hard time.
Drew
edit: The link did'nt work, and I don't know how to post pics here. Can I e-mail them to someone, and can you put them up for me?
Thanks
Drew

Drew,

My condolences. Again, at least you're OK.

Definitely see a lawyer. When I got T-boned I didn't even go to the hospital, but eventually I found out that I ended up with a couple herniated discs in my upper back. Ended up winning a lawsuit which was worth a good part of the hassle. It's worth a shot, especially if your back is hurting you now.

Good luck on the car, hate to say it, but I hope it's totalled, cars hit that bad are never ever the same. My T-bone developed a door whistle that they could never get fixed, killed my resale value.

Also, e-mail me your pics. I've got some I'm going to host for Anders which I'll have up by tomorrow.

e-mail is [email protected].

Good Luck!

-Gary
