Hi guys my 2000 2.5 rs Impreza is causing me some trouble lately.

I ran the battery down the other night, ever since I got the car running again the alarm comes on. I think the ecu may have reset after the battery died.

My key fob doesn't work very well and the car will only start with the use of the fob that barely works and 9 out of ten times my alarm will go off for ages.

Is there any easy cheap or free! way of getting this to stop? I have a spare fob I put a new battery in but it doesn't work how can I programme it to the car?

I don't have a radio code as it's got an after,asked stereo.

If I remove the battery from the current fob will it reset it?

All help appreciated thanks!
I tried programming the spare fob using the steps on page 1 but it wouldn't work...
I can live without keyless entry if anyone can please help!

Alright so i contacted the remote dealer, and even though i have an 04 the A269ZUA111 remote isn't compatable with my car? I never had a remote so I have no idea which one I need. So I looked at the keyless entry unit under the dash, and found that this is the FCC ID: NHVVG1U118. With that I now have no idea what remote I need. Is that the tear drop remote?

Can't help you with the radio, but....

What does your remote look like? (Square or oblong...see descriptions on page 1) Is it OEM or aftermarket?

If it is OEM, then replacing the battery will not reset it and it won't have to be programmed again, unless it didn't work at all or the battery was left out for too long.

I think (without looking) that the programming instructions for your remote are on the first page, if not, then they are in your owners manual. It involves holding the programming button to the left of the steering wheel at the bottom of the dash and pressing a button on the remote (there is a sequence, I don't remember it at this moment).

In the meantime, when the alarm goes off, you can turn the key in the ignition 3 times and the alarm will stop going off

What is the procedure for programming on a 2015 base Impreza? The key fobs are not the teardrop kind but built into the key like on the older Outback and Legacy:

Dealer wants $50 to do it :/

I looked at the 2015 Impreza manual and didn't see any instructions. Have you tried using the instructions for the teardrop remote? Open up your remote to get the ID number and try the instructions for 2006-2008 models in the first post. Otherwise, the manuals for older Subarus with teardrop remotes have instructions in them, maybe your's doesn't have instructions because it needs to be programmed with a diagnostics tool.

I was not able to get any beeps or tones to happen by turning the key 10 times and open/closing the door etc, but the instructions are vague. which key do you use? working one or not working one? from what positions do you turn the key to/from? etc.

There is no DIY procedure for the immobilizer keys, it has to be done by a dealer.

After reading all 30 pages of this, I still cannot find an answer to this problem.

I recently purchased a 2009 Wrx Used. When I bought it, it did not come with a fob, just one single key. I purchased a tear drop fob online, and it is the right model I believe because it has the 8 digit code inside containing only numbers. I programmed it according to the steps listed on the first page and all of the correct beeps happened at the correct times and the locks cycled at the end like they should. The remote however will not work with the car. I went to the dealership and they tested the remote for function and the battery is fine and it is sending a signal but will still not work with the car.

I am new to the car and do not know if it previously had an aftermarket alarm system or anything of the sort.

Any insight into what might be causing the remote not to work?

Thanks, RJ

Could be that you got a bad aftermarket remote. Did the dealer try a new remote (of theirs) to see if it would program to the car? I would ask them if they would do that, if they didn't, and if it works, buy the remote from them and return the one you bought online.

I have a 2008 Impreza 2.5i sedan. I was given a two button FOB (the one without the trunk release button) from the guy I bought it from (he buys auction subis and sells them). The trunk does not have a handle, Is there any way to tell if my vehicle is compatable with the three button FOB that has the trunk release button? It is kind of annoying to pop the trunk from inside the vehicle every time.

Default Help with 2014 WRX Key programming

I wanted a single key for my 2014 WRX 5 door.

Got the key cut just fine, but can't get the keyless lock/unlock working. I've followed the steps I've seen listed. Got it to work with the original key fobs, but can't get the new key (an Outback key working).

I've replaced the battery but just can't get it working.

Any thoughts?

Default Keyless Entry not Working

Vehicle:
2006 Impreza 2.5i Wagon

1. Keyless Entry used to work when vehicle was purchased in 2010
2. Keyless stopped working in 2012
3. Replaced batteries in both key fobs (did not fix issue)
4. Did not think about key fobs for almost 4 years
5. Tried to get keyless fobs working again
a. new batteries in original key fobs (did not work)
b. new keyless fobs from amazon (did not work)
6. Purchased new keyless Entry Module
a. tried original key fobs (did not work)
b. tried new key fobs (did not work)
7. Brought both keyless entry modules and all key fobs to Subaru dealership (none of them worked in any combination)

Currently the new Keyless entry module is installed, and if I lock the doors from the door and close the door, the vehicle will enter valet mode, and the alarm goes off (must turn key 3 times to deactivate)

Dealership used computer to program fobs. The vehicle remains in valet mode, so I cannot try to manually program using the steps described in the original post.

Does anyone know what else could be causing the keyless entry system not to work? The dealership mentioned that there could be other electrical issues (fuses, wires, panels), that could be the culprit.

I may have 4 bad fobs. I may have 2 bad modules. I may have a bad fuse. I think the fobs work, because they were able to be programmed. I think the new module works, because the alarm will go off and it shows valet mode. I do not know how to troubleshoot beyond this.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to keep spending money for the factory system, if I can install an aftermarket system for less than $200.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hopefully someone can help me here lol
A few months ago I lost my keys/key fob to my car (2002 wrx)
I have just been using my spare key to manually unlock and lock my car for the last few months and I finally decided to buy another used key fob. I paired it with my car no problem, car honked to let me know it married. The fob does not unlock or lock the car though. I replaced the battery already and re-did the marrying procedure a few times, still nothing. If I click either button on the fob the red light will come on and most of the time stay on. I stood five feet away from my car and clicked the unlock button about 30 times and it finally unlocked the car, but I can't get it to do it again.
Should I assume I was sold a faulty remote?

One of my original fobs had a broken button that attached to the circuit board. I was able to re-attach and it worked.

If you take apart the remote, there is the case, the visible buttons, rubber? layer that makes contact with the circuit board buttons, and the circuit board. I would check to see if any of the small buttons that attach to the circuit board are loose or damaged. These buttons are what make the clicking noise.

good thread

still not sure how to fix my problem though, USDM MY05 STI (hawkeye)
I only have one chipped key with no buttons, so essentially I can't program the system to go valet so that the alarm doesn't scream every time I open the door with the key (as I have no other option)

can I buy a used key fob and program it to the system? does it have to be MY05 specific, and if so anyone has one spare for sale?

the only other reason I have found, is to cut the driver's door sensor so that it doesn't see when its opened, not a perfect solution
another idea is to gut the system out completely, since its a rally car anyway

opinions?

Im wanting to add keyless entry to my '02 Impreza TS, and I picked up a module from a 2000 Outback. The module looks identical to the impreza/wrx item, but I am unsure if it will work. Part#88035AE050

The connector and pin number is the exact same as impreza, Im just needing to know if someone else as used a non impreza specific module and if it works fine.

Thanks!

Don't mean to revive an old thread, but I'm utterly clueless on what's going on with my security system. I'm new here--so I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong area. Anyway, I bought an 05 WRX that came with the teardrop key fob , and I'm unsure if the security system actually arms.

There is absolutely no blinking light on the dash to indicate that the security has been armed. When I press the unlock/lock button, it makes the usual chirp and flashing lights, but no security light blinking when I lock it. If I open the driver door with the key without using the remote to unlock it, the alarm does not go off.

I've tried reading on multiple forums, including the owner's manual, but I've had no luck. Hoping someone can shed some light on my problem.

Default Trouble getting into keyfob programming mode

Hi All!
I just purchased a used 2007 Impreza 2.5i. I can not for the life of me, get the car into programming mode so i can add a keyfob.

Some facts;
- I have read the newbie FAQ and the security FAQ on NASIOC
- I understand the proper procedure for my car
- I watched (3) youtube videos of how to do it
- I disconnect the battery for 15 min when I failed the first (20th) time under the assumption it was in valet mode
- The previous owner did not have the keyless entry fob to give me, so I am using one of the spares from my wifes 2006 Forrester, teardrop shape, no panic or truck buttons, just lock and unlock
- I have the 8 digit code (not that I have been able to even try entering the code yet since the issue is I can't get into programming mode)
- I have a fresh battery in the keyfob
- The trunk is and all doors are closed
- All the windows are up / closed
- The car's orig sales window sticker, which I have, lists keyless entry
- The two modules above the interior fuse box are plugged in
- I have tried 10 - 15 OFF / ON turns of the key, and I never get the tone / buzzer, nor does the domelight flash
- When it doesn't work, I remove the key, open and close the door and start again

Any ideas?
Besides take it to a dealer
Thanks!!!
