I'm going to have to go back home in a bit to fire up the generator. luckily each house in my subdivision is on its own little hill so my basement is level with the street, if the sump pump doesn't run for a few hours im usually ok.

Power was out from 7:45 until about 3:30. The surge I saw at 7:45 arced sparks across my outlets, popped 5 breakers, took out my battery backup, and my surge suppressor on my TV. Overall... I got freakin lucky.

Yikes! We have been without power since I think 8am as well. We're still down out here in Lake in the Hills.

Sure is gonna suck sleeping without any air conditioning tonight

I'm just sitting here in my cool apartment enjoying a cold beverage messing around on my computer about to watch a tv show. All this electricity I've got is making my evening quite pleasant.

Yeah that is pretty nuts. I can't believe I had such a hard time convincing people to buy good surge protectors when I worked at officemax back in the day.

Was a tough decision... i think it was a $30 one on the TV that just did surge supression, and the battery / combo that was on my PC was like $100. I'm going to upgrade it to something a little more resolute via work.

Hmmm $130 vs easily $3k... Math is hard

and, the surge protection comes with a warranty that covers connected equipment. So you're basically retarded not to get it. Maybe that's what I should have told people.

It's cleaner to just run surge suppression at the outlet. Who likes those big bulky bricks of black plastic? not I.

So since I'm home, without power and bored, I wanna talk about the Garret GT28RS ball bearing turbo, aka the Disco Potato.

I don't know much about turbos, but hell, it gives us something to talk about. Can we get this bad boy on a WRX without much hassle? Is it worth it? Are there better options?

Personally, I think would rather have an quicker spooling turbo that has decent power vs one that takes longer to spool that has lots of power. I think it would be a more fun car.

Thoughts? Dewey and I were talking about it on Friday and it got some gears in my head turning...

Hey Gizmo, it's worth checking out the package that Garage Tuning is offering. They have a twinscroll 28 with TS headers, up pipe, downpipe and frontmount intercooler for $5,000 they claim you'll be far in the 400whp range at that point.

I think I remember reading somewhere that twin scroll on a 30r or less really isn't worth the money unless you are really going all out. I wish I could remember where I saw the dyno sheets. They indicated a reduction of only like 200 rpm in spool.

I was looking at the AMR T60 turbo. That is definitely something I'd like lol. Probably spool at 4k but that'd be the best 3k powerband Haha.

I'm curious on this one. Twin scroll = EL headers which already wins... so I'd like to see these numbers.

Also keep in mind that the tune matters as much as the supporting mods.

If I remember correctly some shop did a dyno run on a twin scroll 30r in proven power bragging. Someone with a nearly identical setup, albeit single scroll, posted up his sheets just to show people little or no gain.

I don't think they offer the t60r anymore. They discontinued it for the cxr750 which is the 40r compressor / 35r turbine stock location 70lb/min beast. I would love to have one of those.

It's a 80lb a min one according to importimage. Idk lol. I saw the turbo on their website too. Maybe they are just trying to get rid of them. But yea that cxr750 would be insane. Probably have the most ridiculous lag unless you were running a crazy high compression ratio like 10.0:1.
