Make the WRX more fun to drive, replace the door mirrors, lower the windshield, improve the fuel economy and shed about 500 lbs, then we'll talk turkey.

That's great that you agree that the BRZ gets better MPG.

Fully stock, I got about 20 mpg around the city with crazy driving. Now it's worse since I have terribly uneven STI tires that are also heavy as sin. Would be much worse with WRX for sure. Ask me how I know!

Fully stock I got about 37 mph highway average on my road trip. Doubt I'd see that on the WRX on its best day.

Then you still have to convince me that I'm okay with the extra headache of a turbo, intercooler and all the plumbing that comes with. I've been there and I'm totally happy with my spunky, little NA engine.

BRZ doesn't require as much room to go sideways or just turn tightly in general. Smaller car = less door dings. You can also ask me how I know about that, too!

I would like to ask you how you know since the wrx you had was rated 19/25. People are getting mid 30s in the wrx too.

31 is not mid 30s. Per fuelly, the twins are about 10~15% easier on gas. Generally negligible as far as absolute cost, though.

it amounts to ~$290 per 15k if you go y fuelly 27.9 vs 24.6 if gas is $4 per gallon, its not nothing

there are a lot more people on fuelly with BRZ's than WRX's, the 2013 BRZ has almost 3 million miles tracked, none of the wrx years are even at 1,000,000

these numbers also include the automatic BRZ which is rated 26/34(I think) and the CVT WRX which is rated 19/25

Oh I'm saying "ask me how I know" to say that with a WRX I'd surely get worse MPG because I'd thrash it year round more so than what I already do with my BRZ, and that's based on previous experiences with my WRX and STI.

I also like having an Aisin transmission mated to an "under powered" engine. I have faith that the transmission will hold up to many, many miles of abuse. After having my WRX transmission fail at 35.5k miles, it's just solidified my stance of the WRX being an economy performance car for daily driving. I've come to realize that I'm incapable of driving a performance car like a normal human being, so I need a car that can take a thrashing. So that bumps me up to the STI. Unfortunately I find the FA20 engine to be exciting, so going back to an EJ doesn't really wow me. Also, apparently the kid that bought my WRX blew up the engine not too long after I sold it to him, so I also have no faith in the EJ engine at this point, especially after going through two engines in my Impreza coupe (un-modded AFAIK).

The Levorg I find exciting because the proportions are attractive to me to where they justify the goofy door mirrors. It doesn't necessarily tout itself as a performance car, so I don't mind the raised windshield. And the taillights are much nicer looking than the sedan. Since they aimed for refinement with the Levorg, it's a bit more of what I'd want in my next new car purchase. Since I don't want to buy a new car anymore, I'm okay with the Levorg not being in America. Less temptation.

Subaru decided to release (or not release) what they did at a very opportune time. I was getting tired of trading up cars every year or two. I'd like to keep the BRZ another year at least, ideally until summer of 2016 so I can give it ample opportunity to explore the east coast.

Its the tranny from the is250 that wasn't strong enough for the 350.

I was talking about the new wrx tranny though.

I want to trade our civic for a used brz when they get cheap

Local BRZ limited selling for $21k right now with 7k miles. Excellent original owner. Come to Alaska!

I'd beware of salvage titles at that price. There will be a lot of salvage titles out there based on what I see over on FT86club.

Gonna have to start driving more like a sane person. These $50 STI tires are losing more grip with each passing day.

For those not on my Instagram, Facebook or Flickr, here are some Alaska shots for ya.
