Auto store only had the big jug of rotella t 10w30... well, I figured I'd get it done while I had them time and go back to another store the next day and pick up a single..
well, literally southwest Missouri is DRY. Not a single quart of this stuff exists. I dont want to run around a quart low.... any suggestions?

Why are you running the synthetic blend 10w30? Most turbo owners run the fully synthetic 5w40.

That said, if it's already a blend, what's the harm in blending a bit more? Better to run 4qts of syn-blend and 1qt of dino than to run a quart low.

Is it really ok to mix different oil weights? When the oil sits it will separate. Obviously it will mix pretty quickly, but this just seems like a scientifically bad idea. Waiting...

it wont separate i promise all (all but maybe a few weird proprietary ones, which we are not discussing here) current, MODERN, motor oils are 100% mixable with each other without any issue. |

I think Scotty has a pager that goes off whenever someone posts an oil thread like this.

Any oil is better than being a quart low - Even Dino.

Scotty, that last quote was funny....
I have seen the Shell 10w30 but only in gallon size. To the OP, I would try to find some rotella T6 5w40 and try that if you can and just make sure to check the oil at least once a week |

Same here^^^ Like $22 for a gallon of the T6 5w40 Going to mix a quart of the M1 10w40 racing 4T once spring gets here or sooner once I have this one short block rebuilt for my car.
The point is, as long as you don't run low and keep the oil where it should be you will bee better off than running the best oil but letting it run like 2 qrts low... |

T6 is $21 a gallon at my Walmart. It's always a tease that every other Shell oil product on the shelf has a nice discount, except the T6. I'm just waiting for the day it does go on sale, or they mark it wrong, ill buy like 4 gallons and stock up! |
